Fantastic news. I can't wait to see Cokie, after reading all the great things about her summer. If we also get Kelsey or Joslyn (both? I can't get crazy here), we will have an unmatched inside game. Even if we don't, we will still be awesome with Reed and Gayle.
 
HOLY CANNOLI! This is GREAT news! This is what we've been waiting for ever since GG got here...a top 5 recruit. Things are happening ahead of schedule.

Now we need to keep Bone in state. I hope she comes to Texas but it is rare that the top post players from one class sign with the same school, not to mention the existance of Ashley Gayle. If Bone were to chose A&M can you imagine the battles down low that we would be witness to with Griner, Bone and Reed in the same conference?

I think the next piece of the puzzle would be Tayler Hill. We need some guards to go along with the inside presenece. With Reed and Gayle we are going to be strong in the paint for several years to come.

Player rankings are subjective, but I think (after everything I've read) that they have Lauren Flores ranked too low. Regardless, I'm thrilled to haver her as a Longhorn.
 
I agree about Lauren's ranking. Like Ashleigh this season, I think the staff snatched up a hidden diamond with Lauren.
 
Keep in mind, Goestenkors got a commitment from a point guard who wasn't a McDonald's All-American because she was only considered to be the third best point guard in her state. That player turned out to be Lindsey Harding, the 2007 National Player of the Year.
 
For a coach, it seems that intuition on a year to year basis with a player becomes way more important than the final ranking of that player.

I don't think that Coach G will need to have a "top 5" recruiting year to prove her coaching abilities.

Coach G went for Flores very early so one has to believe that she has seen something special in her that was missed by those who rank the players.

Good point about Harding. And look at Sofia Young...very few knew much about her and she turned out to be a pretty good player. Look at Adam Morrison, who, if I recall correctly, was ranked somewhere around 100 when he was a senior in high school. He turned out to be first team All America.
