Coach PK & the Texas D

He might not be far wrong . During some game Sat the " rules expert" talked about how a ref can decide your "intent" and throw you out of the game.

poor tackling is pandemic nowadays. these guys going for the big lick, used to high school boys, not wrapping up.

When I see a form tackle, head across the numbers, shoulder giving the blow, arms wrapping, it's like the heavens open.

I think Simmons is pretty good at it too. He's special but he knows he's not the biggest guy on the field as a true fresh
That bump hit trying to tackle someone without wrapping up is a Deion (sp?) Sanders trademark. It's one of many reasons I don't like him. He could break up passes all day, but if he happened to miss and the receiver catches the ball, the only way the receiver was going to the ground was by tripping over his own shoestrings.

Check this out: we are now the #1 ranked Secondary in the game.

SECONDARY

Power Four: Texas Longhorns – 92.2

...The Longhorns lead the nation in coverage grade and have only surrendered a 57.7 passer rating, the third-lowest in America. Five of the six defensive backs with at least 125 snaps have at least a 70.0 PFF grade this season.

Sophomore Liona Lefau joins A. Hill as a starter at LB.

"There's a bunch of Burnt Orange" in the Hawaii community these days. Thanks, in large part, to Lefau, it sounds like we're planting the Longhorn flag higher than the Oregon, USC, Washington, BYU, or Utah flags out there these days.

The Texas D was fantastic Saturday night. Great plan and execution overall by PK and his players.
Beck has been Georgia’s main weapon. He was 23 of 41 for 175 yds, 3 int and 0 TDs. Total offense for GA on the day was 283 yds.
GA had 5 scoring “drives” in the first half. Those drives totaled 89 yds of offense.
In the second half GA had that one long scoring drive of 89 yds where they converted on a 3rd and long from deep in their own territory (21 yds gain). Then pulled off a flea flicker for 43 yds. Their other 5 possessions in the 2nd half totaled 31 yds.

Off topic, their punter averaged 54 yds with great hang time allowing no return and pinned us deep more than once.

Texas defense was put in bad position after bad position and held up pretty well. However, Georgia receivers dropped numerous passes that were not only catchable but hit them in the hands and were uncontested. Otherwise, the score would have been much worse. And burning two timeouts early because the defense can't get the call or right personnel in is unacceptable at any time.

Walking Boss,

Did you actually see the game live rather than rely totally on meaningless statistics?

WOW! What a novel concept. Think that might catch on?

Watching at home, but my son and I were constantly texting regarding how bad a night the Georgia receivers were and that was the only thing keeping them somewhat in the game. That and Beck doesn't take care of the ball and just throws it up half the time.

Many of those drops were by receivers who either had been blasted earlier or heard footsteps. Also, Texas receivers dropped several critical passes so that fact washes.

The 12 men burning a TO was stupid, but by the end of the game, it didn't matter since Ewers could not hit open receivers down the field. (This issue isn't new, but in 2023 Worthy bailed him out on several plays with his recovery speed.)

Fair Defensive performance with our backs to the wall over and over. We had a very sub-par O performance. They had a Ray Guy clone at punter. We got killed in the field position battle.
