Clinton Campaign Manager Out

Once the campaign started losing ground it was rumored that she was being pushed out. For all the talk of racial dynamics of this election, I find it interesting that a latina was replaced by a black woman.

What's an "escape goat"?

Btw, zzz, all of the latinos are concentrated in areas, where under the TDP's rules, are allocated about half the number of delegates in predominatly black areas (becasue of historically low turnout).

Mark my words, Texas will be a draw, or Obama win -- which is an Obama win either way.

I was not implying that she made the move for publicity reasons. If anything, it will only hurt her. Her no:1 base now is Hispanics. She is not going to get blacks back.

She made the change because she thought Patti was ineffective. Maggie was her chief of staff at WH, but is a relative new comer to the campaign. She was brought it after Hillary lost Iowa. I would think that she had a big say in the campaign decisions after she was brought it, so I don't know how much difference this will make.

What's Mark Penn's job? I thought he was Campaign Mgr.

Hook'em!!!

I like how she fires her longtime loyal member of her inner circle and replaces her with....

a longtime member of her inner circle.

Who here actually thought this woman was going to run her campaign differently than she has? The Clinton's were NEVER 'grassroots' candidates and have NEVER run a solid and wide-ranging ground operation. They have always thrived on money, division among their opponents, and more money. Beating her was simply a matter of finding the right candidate a little charisma, some message discipline, and some serious organizational chops. It's all been there for the taking, waiting for someone to put together a campaign that could hit hers in the mouth on the first play of the game.

It's not that Obama is a savior. He's just better at this than Clinton.

An ability to raise money is not the issue. It's how they've spent it - not by developing a strong and thorough grassroots operation, but by piecing off safe-seat Democratic pols in blue regions and building an abbreviated list of folks who have resources and owe them favors. Obama based his campaign around direct contact with voters and he built a better mousetrap. Now suddenly she's the underdog (

) and caucuses are 'undemocratic' (

) and Obama is the 'establishment' (

). I have to wonder who she thinks she's fooling.

But yes, indeed, a healthy dose of cynicism about politicians and money is always in order, zzzz. Don't confuse being impressed by someone's work with any notions of purity or infallibility.

On the other hand, if your beef with Obama's fundraising is that he's worked with competent professionals instead of ham-fisted jackals, then you might need to adjust your focus a bit.

Escape goat = R.C. Slocum. Some guy on texags used the term "escape" goat (instead of "scape" goat), and it has been around ever since. Kind of like idoit.

Desperate times....desperate measures. Oh yeah, Maggie was seen carry a bunch of stuff out of Vince Foster's office after his, ahem, suicide.

One would think Clinton would have been a little smarter than to give someone the job who has so much baggage

how can she think some of this wont be further exposed soon? Why take that risk at this point in the race?
