his has been a very strange recruitment. back in feb, ketch ran a bunch of teasers saying he wanted to be a horn...folks here seemed to think he'd commit on the spot, if offered. he left jr. day (the second one, right?) without an offer. he then immediately commits to aggy, only to decommit amid rumors that he likes lsu. then, as is all too common with leftover, uncommitted, 4 star skill players, rivals bumps him to 5 stars. that's not to say he's not excellent, but rivals has a habit of whipping up froth around good uncommitted guys. the general consensus is that it will either be lsu or aggy. now he says he would still consider Texas.
why are the usual OOS suspects not after this kid? why has Texas not shown interest after that jr day? it all is very odd.
our rb recruitment does not make a lot of sense. look at whaley. i LOVE this kid as a running back. if he can keep his speed, i don't care if he's 250. he's a freak athlete. however, does he have the 0-60 and shiftiness to be a shotgun-spread, handoff-at-a-standstill guy? with a guy like that, i'd line him up 8 deep with an evil fullback and freaking mow people down, USC/OU/98 UT style. is GD planning on shifting the O back to a more pro-style look with Whaley and Gilbert? (if so, i sure hope we do it with a vertical passing game this time). if he isn't, are the coaches planning on giving whaley a shot at rb before trying to move him elsewhere?
