Our coaches made him a promise when recruitng him that he would get a shot at QB, they lived up to it. That shot is a failure. He is an amazing athlete with great skills that need to be used elsewhere if he even dreams of sniffing the NFL in any position.
As gifted as he is he has what, one year of experience in HS as a starting QB? He may not have enough depth of talent at that job with enough time to overcome the ticking of a clock counting down to when his chance to keep playing that position ends.
VY was like him as well, somewhat raw. But the skillset was light years ahead. So when he buckled down to learn the position more, he already had more experience to draw from. This is not Chiles fault unless he has that moment of clarity that QB is likely not his calling, and ignores it and tries to force it.
I cannot think of a school that is any good where he would start either. Who knows, there could be a growth spurt and it all comes into play, he has so much athleticism this is not impossible (just not likely). Maybe a Sam Houston State or something like that? He does not want that. He has bigtime skills.
Mr. Chiles, Longhorn, player we all want to succeed on the field and in life...it is time to sit down and realize that you are not a failure or a lesser player if you don't play the QB position. Hone your lethal potential into a precision instrument of execution...execution of defenses.
Reggie Bush is not a good running back in the NFL but damn is he scary in that slot and in certain formations. You have the strength to run between tackles, catch balls in the flat and juke to the endzone. To decoy and have time to still work on your arm and accuracy for those gimmick plays that keep safety's honest.
I think I speak for all fans that we want you and the team to be happy and kicking ***. Assess yourself and your talents in case it is time to focus them at another position with the endzone still as the destination.
Hook 'em and kick some ***, sea bass.
