Chiles the Runner

I wonder of Mack and crew ever think of it from the perspective of, "we want JC on the field roughly x% of our offensive plays". You start there and work backwards as to where he might be playing, generally...x plays at QB, x plays at RB, x plays at WR. That is what I would do...playmakers on the field with the ball in their hands, somehow, someway...Arky with McFadden, Florida with TT and Percy Harvin, USC with Bush running and catching the ball, etc.

Without a strong defense, you cannot give up possessions for "training" the next QB. If the defense comes out strong next fall, expect to see more young offensive players. But there are enough young defensive players to make this problematical.

Mack's "problem" up to now has been that he feels vulnerable until the team is up 35, but then he doesn't want to run up the score by playing his back-ups in scoring mode. Back-ups need real playing time sometime.

mac65hookem,

You have no friends if you couldn't get past the commas, without feeling the need to cry about them.

Mack said after the Holiday Bowl that Chiles was used on every third drive as a change of pace to make things tougher on the opposing defense. I really hope that this plan transfers to next season, because I feel this is the best way for Chiles to get the game time reps he needs while getting totally comfortable controlling the offense.

Chiles will never be as good of a runner as Reggie McNeal, but might get close - He will never be 20% the passer Reggie McNeal was, and Reggie still sucked overall. You people acting like Chiles is some sort of amazing runner are out of your damn minds.

hagy,

Some people just don't get it. I also see my reply to the first comma post went right over the head of the eyes of Texas. He or she is so smart.

I like the idea at running back. This guy should be on the field the same time as Colt. What about Sergio Kindle at rb as an option as well? This guy was a beast at rb in high school and he is huge to boot. We could use a thunder and lighting approach.
