Chiefs vs 49ers Super Bowl Game Thread

They are saying there is no view straight down the goal line on that play. Why in world would you not have a camera looking right down the goal line in a Super Bowl?

to my untrained eye, the keys to KC winning was the failure to keep Mahomes in the pocket, they let him scramble outside on many key plays.

On defense, Chris Jones knocked down a lot of passes.

Like him...but Pat not deserving of the MVP there. I'd have gone with RB Williams... or no one....Though Tyreek Hills presence alone may have been the most important factor in the game for the Chiefs...wreaks havok on secondarys just running routes. Anyway, Mahomes winning so easily without even a debate further proves a point I was making on the Kyler Murray offensive rookie of year thread about awards.
Btw, if San Fran won I'd have given it to Deebo Samuel #19. Looked like the best player on the field to me most of the night.

I agree w this article asserting William's should have been MVP...

Super Bowl 2020: Chiefs' Damien Williams opens eyes with Super Bowl LIV performance, should have been MVP

They only had 100 cameras.

Also why the game was not broadcast in true 4K. Fox just enhanced the 1080p pixels to generate a 4K signal. The bandwidth required for 100 cameras was just too great. It does leave one to wonder why about 8 or so were not true 4K.

I thought Damien Williams, Tyreek Hill, Bashaud Breeland, and Chris Jones were all more deserving choices for MVP.

Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were falling all over Mahomes all night, although he was just average -- until six minutes were left in the game. Aikman called him "the face of our league". Buck said, "now KC has got them right were they want them", when SF was up by 10. The network ran special features on him. No way he wasn't going to get MVP.

That was a close game until the last 6 minutes when the chiefs, down by 10, put up 21 points and won by 11. Great performance by KC for the win! That was wild!!

I thought that the game was rather pedestrian if I may use that term until K C's come back. If I was Mahomes I would have declined the MVP and say that Williams deserved it. He knew he stunk most of the game. ....But he got it done. Thankfully, for KC, their defense kept them in the game.

It was actually a rather boring game that looked over after the second Mahomes INT.

It will be interesting to see what the rest of the NFL DC's do over this offseason to counteract Mahomes. Whatever they came up with last offseason didn't work.

There were two views straight down the goal line. Unfortunately, the near pylon cam was too low because the action happened pretty much directly above it. Presumably, the far pylon cam was blocked by players in the way.

I suppose there were a few other ways to get a good shot of this play. One would be to have a camera along the goal line but set a bit further back (in addition to the pylon cam). The other would be one or more overhead cameras centered above the goal line.

I'm told they had over 100 cameras for the Super Bowl. To get comprehensive coverage, they'd probably have to double that, if not more. They would need multiple cameras along and above the back of the end zone, along and above both sidelines, along and above the line-of-scrimmage (which they already have, but probably not enough of them), and along and above the first-down line. Add that to the cameras you need to actually catch the action in the game, and things could get out of hand pretty quickly.

It was going to be 1st and goal at the 1 and a likely TD either way. I think he was 2 inches short if you ask me, but, per the rules...inconclusive evidence.
