Changes in UT's athletic administration

No, I don’t have any inside information I’m just using common sense. When a head coach gets fired one of the first things he or the coaching staff does is to inform the signee’s. There’s absolutely no way that every single signee would still be coming to Texas if there wasn’t some sort of understanding that Coach Bailey would be the coach.
Thanks.

The only Texas employee who could be making guarantees to the signees would be Del Conte; even, then, he can't predict the future as far as certain coaches deciding to move on for reasons of their own. And, if he wanted to put the signees minds at ease in regards to Tonja's future at Texas, he could have done it a long time ago by making things official. That hasn't happened yet.

Whenever there is a coaching change, most schools grant signees their releases if requested; have no idea how that impacts international signees.

Track and Field is a different animal. You also have to keep in mind that there’s that pending lawsuit involving Coach Kearney and her accusations claiming the very thing that poster Karen talked about.
Kurupt, thank you. I hope all fans are cognizant that they team is made up of of mostly African and African American players at a university and athletic department with heavily white leadership, at a university where students of color experience racism on a regular basis. This is a deep and systemic problem, but I would like to see enlightenment and progress in the department that profits so heavily from African American talent.

Florida fans say that we tried to hire away their T&F head coach; UF then gave him a 10 year contract extension. So, if that is what led to the contact extension, it sounded to me as if we were going after a big fish.

Think you’re mixing things up. I’m pretty sure that it was Florida’s softball coach we were after who got the extension. Could’ve been track too but I know that was the situation with the Florida softball coach.

Yep. And that’s the main reason that I think they will hire Coach Bailey. Not saying that Coach Bailey isn’t qualified because she certainly is. But it would look really bad and essentially confirm what Coach Kearney said and what she is suing Texas for.

Actually, it was baseball two years ago. Then Track & Field a few months ago. Then softball a couple of weeks ago. "Rumors" that we pursued all. And, all got 10 year contract extensions shortly afterwards.

For those who aren't following the T&F coaching search, there are rumors on different message boards that we were/are interested in the following head coaches:

- Florida (black male)
- USC (black female)
- Oregon (black male)
- Kentucky (black male)
- Georgia (Greek male)
- LSU (white male)

So, if even a couple are true, it sure seems to me that race is not going to be an issue in this hire; and, I never thought it would be.

Welp. It looks like I was totally wrong on Coach Bailey being the head coach. Great hire by CDC.

CDC is so impressive! This looks like a Great hire and for all the right reasons. Looking forward to seeing what happens on the Softball Coach hire! I believe Softball is a sleeping giant at Texas. We should be in National title consideration every year!
