While I agree with this assessment, to me the bigger issue is the psyche of the team, and the fact that we don’t have players stepping up.For the umpteenth time - Card holds the ball too long, cannot read the defense, makes decisions based on HS speed not P5 speeds.
But for those football Einsteins that want to destroy his confidence and future, throw him out there and watch the second coming of Connor Wood.
Sark needs to send a message to the team, even though much of our problems can be traced back to the coaching staff; scheming and play calling. So by replacing Casey the message will be sent: No position is safe. If players like Moore and Washington are paying attention, perhaps they will get the message. And perhaps they will feel some responsibility.
Casey is not the issue, but his inability to put this team on his shoulders when it needed to be done is a problem. Multiple times yesterday he could have quickly seen an opportunity to run, taken off and gotten a first down. That was consequential. Had he done so I’m speculating that even with the drops, we might have won the game.
So make the change, and send the message. Perhaps players who have not been making plays will get the message. Nothing else seems to be working.
Making the change may not be fair to CT but then again, nothing else seems to be working. Heck, we’re not winning regardless.
