Cano to the Mariners

10 years, $240M - The Link. Unbelievable - you'd think the M's would have learned from watching the Angels make a ten-year mistake with Pujols. Maybe the annual money is market value, but it's hard to believe that anyone can gamble on a ten-year span of good health and productivity.

Can't imagine how this could be a good deal for the M's. This was a desperation play by the M's GM and ownership to try to tell the fanbase they are committed to winning which is what the fans are questioning.

I agree, Seattle Husker. Cano can certainly play 2B defense well, and he can hit for average, but I think his power numbers will go down by playing 81 games in Safeco. Fly balls that reached the short bleachers in RF in Yankee Stadium will die on the warning track at Safeco.

Now that the Rangers have signed Choo and no longer have a slot for Nelson Cruz, perhaps the Mariners will try to sign Nellie. Thoughts on this item?

Choo is a better table setter than the eparted Kinsler. With Rios and Martin as outfield regulars, the Rangers can rotate in Choice and Moreland to provide depth. As a righty and a lefty, they have and potential to provide quality ABs as reserve outfileders/designated hitters. It would be nice to have another potent batter who could DH and play the left side of the infield.
