Cancun/Playa Hotel Recommendations

I'm assuming you're talking about the price for a Standard room or a 1BR.

There, we booked one of several available 1600 sf 2 br units for $200/night by talking directly to the owner. They had Standard rooms available for ~$95.

The owner can rent these units separately as standards or 1 brs, or together as a 2 br suite, and they are well equipped to say the least.

No, haven't stayed at Ixchel. My wife and I stay at Maroma between Playa and Cancun but we usually take a day trip to Isla to eat at Sunset Grill. We are trying to get some friends to go to Mexico with us and I see that Ixchel has 2 bedroom Penthouses for $250 a night. That's a great price, especially divided between 2 couples!! Let us know what you think of the property??

Please get back to us with a report on the trip to Isla Mujeres. I went there a couple of times in the '70's and loved it. Ms. Accurate has never been to Mexico, so I was thinking of going back there for a vacation one day.
What's that skin diving park called, Garafon (?). Beautiful place for snorkeling. I think I rented a motor bike to go down there from the hotel. There was a thatched roof beer bar with fresh ceviche down there where you could sit and look at the water, paradise with a squeeze of lime.
Then I went spear fishing off the point, I think there was a reef. I kept chasing this too smart fish into this tunnel-like rocky arch. I looked up one time in there and this huge toothy moray eel was eyeballing me from his front porch hole in the rock-I decided to swim elsewhere.
Isla is more like real Mexico than Cancun, no doubt about it.
