Cancelled TWC as my TV provider

Well done, Dogbert. Don't forget that the OTA broadcasts are usually up on the network website for at least a week so it's sort of like a DVR as it's there for you whenever you want to watch it. You just cannot pile up a full season of episodes. Huluplus may make all episodes of a season available, however.

I00p, I'm going to try the free week of HuluPlus and see what it has to offer. It may have everything else I need. I have found some excellent shows on PBS and my wife loves Downton Abbey so can't wait for the new season to start.

I get my fix of things like American Pickers, American Restoration, Pawn Stars and such on History Channel website. A&E gives me Storage Wars, The First 48. I just have to wait till the day after, no biggie.

And you are right, PBS is awesome and laden with content. Have you checked out BBC? They also have a whole bunch of great documentaries and shows.

Can somebody give me the skinny on how I do the HD antenna thing for the regular cable channels....what equipment do I need, and what channels will I get??

The channels you receive depends on your location. For an overview of HD antennas:The Link

I live in Austin and get all the local network channels plus their Spanish and weather channels (if they have them -- not all do), 4 KLRU channels, The CW (KNVA), CoolTV and several other Spanish language channels. I only have a $10 antenna connected to the TV, but may get a larger one and put it in the attic and see what else I can pick up.

This is my last week with any connection to TWC. My email and home phone service are being handled through other means. Uverse is available in my area and if they get the LHN then it will be the way to go. I would have gotten Grande if it was available to me.

I am waiting for the official announcement before switiching TV providers, but I eagerly await the news.
re: Clark Field, I can't remember where the scoreboard was, and that is a really old picture, because there are houses past the outfield fence.
Those houses are where the LBJ Library stands nows, and the main outfield fence, the fence in the right side of the picture-just beyond there is the street between the LBJ Library and the Performing Arts Center (is that Trinity St ?).
So the left field line running due north is probably correct, or close to due north.
Seems like when I went to some games in the early sevventies the scoreboard was to the right of the stands, which would be looking towards the north endzone entrance of the football stadium, but maybe someone remembers this exactly.

I got that picture as it is oriented years ago from some online UT publication.

If you are going to pull the plug on TWC as I did beware about your email, if you use roadrunner the second you cancel they erase everything and you lose all old emails.

Transfer all necessary data to your new account PRIOR!

This is why I never ever used the emails that TWC or Grande provided supposedly for free. Sure, you don't pay extra for them but tie your stuff to them and most people will feel stuck and less likely to move elsewhere to another company. Nope, I use something I can use no matter where I work or who I use for service.

When I was staff at UT I only used my work ut addy for work. Never wanted any family pictures or anything to have to transfer. Just makes sense to me.

I keep everything on my own exchange server and used the "free" ISP email for logins to temporary stuff that would result in SPAM...
My daughter and wife used roadrunner for personal stuff and lost important data in their old emails. TWC tech staff were total ******** regarding that issue, would not temp restore access, and said all was lost forever and we should have considered that PRIOR to changing to Grande.

Also, we had the landline through TWC and Grande warned us not to cancel and let them transfer the phone before we cancelled TWC. Apparently TWC will hold your phone number hostage given the chance so let your new service provider do all their stuff first and then cancel TWC.

Blym, My Uverse rep told me to wait and cancel TWC after my Uverse install for this very reason.

I moved all my email to Gmail (from TWC) starting at the end of July just so I could be ready when this came down.

The baseball field picture IS reversed. For shadows of players to be to the right, the sun would have to be shining from 3rd base side. A setting sun from west would cause shadows to the left side of players the way the field faced.
Confirmed by googling Clark baseball field, austin.

Left field backed up against Red River. There used to be buildings/homes there until the university expanded its footprint and eventually built the LBJ Library and public affairs buildings. There were no homes along 23rd Street... just the football stadium and some grass and trees. The pic is clearly reversed.

It's always bugged me a little with your pic, but not enough to say anything about it. Home plate was in the NW corner of the complex, just like it is at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The Clark Field picture is reversed.
As a UT student working at the Co-op in the late 60s, I was one of the people who operated the manual scoreboard-one guy did balls/strikes/outs and the other guy did runs/score. We were paid by the Co-op as if we were working there. What a deal. The scoreboard was in left-center field on billy goat hill. The prior house location comments are correct as to orientation. The picture predates me, but from age 1 til 15 I lived a block behind the left field fence on Sabine St. The houses shown in the picture were along Red River (where the street was then before it was rerouted to where it is now) with Memorial Stadium being behind the right field fence.
