Cal Poly SLO Series--3 Game SWEEP!

Keep LBJ in there to start the 8th.

Then go to Fontenot if needed. Don’t fool around. Get this W.

LBJ had a great night on the mound tonight. Wouldn’t be in this game without him. Thomas finally getting a hit.

Wtf is this?!?!?!

Now the ump is saying Brown was trying to get hit on the elbow???

Pierce isn’t happy.

Poly pulls pitcher Flores.

Sagouspe is one of Poly's most frequently used relievers, so we should see him Friday or Saturday. Coming out of high school, he was recruited as much as an outfielder as a pitcher. Can also play catcher.

2023: pitched in 14.1 innings with 16 strike outs. He gets plenty of strikeouts, but he surrenders plenty of walks, and is frequently hit. So it's often feast (strikeout) or famine (walk, hits) with Sagouspe.

His fastball is in the 80s, so he's definitely not a flamethrower. He relies a lot on his breaking stuff, which he throws frequently, making him a fairly effective pitcher most outings.

Something to watch for and be wary of: Apparently, Sagouspe has a good pick-off move to 1st base. He picked off a Missouri Tiger baserunner who was a bit too far off the bag.

Player Spotlight: Tanner Sagouspe

They bring in this guy to pitch.

any guy that hits a ball to Flores might as well just go straight to the dugout, save your energy for the field.

Good job tonight, would like to see the offense do better in the middle of the order.

Good to get the W vs a quality team.

LBJ was dealin’. Shut out victory!

And while Fontenot was my first choice to go to in a tight game, Gage Boehm proves he can be the closer. Good work bringing it on home by Boehm.

The batting needs to heat up. We stranded too many. But that will come together as the season progresses.

For now, celebrate the victory Horns!

This Wright is a good pitcher. He’d be our #2 starter. He’d be the #2 starter for the top half of the Big 12 and SEC teams. For some of them he’d be their #1 starter.

Poly’s number 2 starting pitcher is only a moderate step down from Wright. But Sunday, they’ll be serving up chopped liver on the mound.
