Cade McCrary to Texas

i assume the 85 limit is on scholarships funded by the school. if the scholarship comes from elsewhere it didn't count in the old days.
 
I might be making this up, but at one point I thought that if a track athlete spent his first two years competing in track only that he could then play football and not count toward the 85 limit for his last two years. Anyone know what I'm talking about here?
 
Fritz, I think that is right. Basically it proves that he is a bonafide member of the track team and not just taking up a scholarship in another sport to participate in football.
 
Thanks. The reasoning makes sense. I wonder how a redshirt figures into this. We'll probably find out all the details with Goodwin. Aggies and Sooners won't know how to great this except to say that Red McCombs is somehow paying his way.
