The thing about Baxter is he will be running over players. Id bet Baxter goes 225#+ by next year.@Horns R Back thanks for the video
I like how he "breaks the tape" when he crosses the goal line
I want to see a bunch of dumb sooners fruitlessly chasing him up and down the field all day
That's always a worry. I was criticized for saying Jonathan Gray runs behind one of the best HS OL's ever and thus doesn't impress me. But from what I'm reading in multiple places, Baxter has been a bull running through tackles and shows some good moves too.Watched 3 minutes of it, untouched on all but one run. The first run, man that was some bad tackling attempts. If he can produce tho I'm all in
Runs like Vince Young, my fading eyes see.
I used to have some wiggle to my gameHe's got some wiggle to his game.
I like everything except this.I like how he "breaks the tape" when he crosses the goal line
Agree about VY. I remember watching him when he first starting get game reps. I would think, oh, he's getting sacked, two steps and he pulled away and was gone.I see what you see in the video posted above. He doesn't seem to be that fast yet he runs away from everyone. He doesn't make dramatic moves yet he's hardly touched as he moves by. Those are the two specific things I remember about VY when he would tuck and run. The combined make it seem effortless. The other thing I like is that he does it while looking like one of the biggest guys on the field.
Color me impressed.
For me it was after he broke away from the rush and was heading down field; I would scream at him to run faster, run faster!!! only to finally realize no one was going to catch him. By the 05 season I would just smile/laugh when he left the pocket.Agree about VY. I remember watching him when he first starting get game reps. This is so true. For me it was after he broke away from the rush and was heading down field; I would scream at him to run faster, run faster!!! only to finally realize no one was going to catch him. By the 05 season I would just smile/laugh when he left the pocket.
Impressive tape but ultimately there were so much bad tackling technique by opposing defenses. It will be fun to see him on the field this year but we have a slate of talented backs so can’t really make assessments until he plays a live game.Watched 3 minutes of it, untouched on all but one run. The first run, man that was some bad tackling attempts. If he can produce tho I'm all in
Remember that time VY was in the pocket and he got some pressure from the D and it looked like maybe he might be tackled and then he took off for a huge gain or maybe a TD. That was awesome. For me it was after he broke away from the rush and was heading down field; I would scream at him to run faster, run faster!!! only to finally realize no one was going to catch him. By the 05 season I would just smile/laugh when he left the pocket.
I used to have some wiggle to my game
Good thing you're known to not be aggy, or I might be inclined to misinterpret this post.JBrooks is our horse. Lets ride him.

Definitely the former, because Brooks has proven himself as an asset at this level. It is no shame to run 3rd behind Roschon and Bijan.IT saying they received a text recently that CJ Baxter would be getting the start against Rice.
They haven't been able to fully confirm that, but it speaks to his talent level and how highly the coaches think of him.
Another source said he's a Top 10 player on the team.
Does this say more about how great Baxter is or that Brooks isn't cut out for the starting job?
I think it is more of the former, as Brooks has always looked very good when he has been in play, including while playing injured in the bowl game. If Baxter is already edging him out, watch out, we may have another all time Texas back on our hands.
