Buy or sell QE.....

Chicago- I’ve seen OU do this to us.
Plays that were not ran until the Shootout, Ahhh sorry the Red River Rivalry

Man, against a weaker opponent I can’t see them doing a Wildcat or a wildcat with Ro throwing it…. But- could see that against Saban.
Have we ever thrown out of the wildcat!?. I know you we're just using that as an example but I wish we would do something like that. Be creative, hell. Just a pet peeve of mine. I love surprise plays.

Or, now that you mentioned it, throw out of the Wildcat a few times against ULM to keep Bama from loading the box.

Discussion of QE (Quantitative Easing) should be moved to the Monopoly board.

Unless I am ignorant, I don’t see how actions by the Fed impacts On The Field.

Worst aspect to me was the pressure. I expected him to be able to look around and survey the field. Scared silly about Ala. am I.

He checked down to RB and TE better as the game went on. However I don’t think he did as well with seeing his receivers.

He threw several floaters/over throws that could have been TDs. I think "throwing it on a rope" is a lost art (think Aikman or Marino). I was hoping for a few more precision passes, but for his first game, I thought he was great! Also, if Card steps on the field, we are doomed. We would be better off using Roschon J. at backup QB.

He definitely has the tools. Just needs the experience to get a feel of who is going to be open. He will learn much this season.

Yeah he missed a few long passes but I saw him make some very good throws through some small windows that impressed me.

I liked the passes where the receiver was wide open (and Quinn knew it) and Quinn didn’t miss.

I’ve read that ULM had their safety over the top every play to prevent long passes.
I am VERY VERY VERY happy that QE checked down. That’s what we need. Hit the open receiver, control the clock, keep Bamas offense on the sideline, rest our defense….
I’d tell players to get down as much as possible if headed out of bounds. I know that’s crazy, but frustrate the b st team ever to play college football, oh wait Herbie… was that USC? or didn’t you say it was LSU, man I can’t remember.

I would like to see QE trust his receivers more so that he doesn't overthrow them on deep passes all the time. Just throw it a little short of overthrowing the ball and trust the receiver either catch it or knock it down. Give him a shot at catching the ball!

I'd like to see his WRs get off the damn line of scrimmage instead dancing with the DBs. It would also be really nice to watch an OL that protects him. That was against a team that I doubt could crack the Top 10 in 5A or 6A.

Early on, buy. Not a bad game for his first game. Much improvement needed. Seems to remain calm. Colt and VY kind of sucked initially, too. Remember when Mock had to bail out VY against Tech? I do.

HIC,

It wasn't so much Chance bailing out Vince as Chance beating his Dad's school, but yes, VY had one of his least memorable performances that night.

And he only beat OU in 2005. You would think he beat them every time. So, Ewers may grow in to becoming one of the legends.

He really wasn’t very good. He wasn’t any better than Card in game 1 last year. But he’ll get more patience than Card did. It was game 1 too, and I’m not a give up on a guy with little opportunity given especially QB.

His stats were compiled on very short stuff. The first pass Helm was very wide open and probably could have run for 20 yards after the catch. On the pick, Worthy was open way earlier on the rollout. On the 2nd Sanders 4th down conversion, that throw was way, way late. Two of his swing passes/screens were on the WRs back hip. People used to mess their drawers when Sam did that early in his career even though he was stressing get the ball out quicker than leading them.

He will not get the open deep looks if he can’t take advantage of the short to intermediate stuff.

Overall, I was disappointed but probably let the hype get to me.

How bored do you have to be to judge a guy after one game?
Yeah, IDE...
I don't get this thread at all.
The initial sentiment....buy or sell...I suppose....a fun topic to play with.
But serious cathartic "down with QE" after one game??
I saw nothing to remotely suggest he can't be a good if not great QB for this program.
Thanks HiC, IDE, and a few others for bringing some sensibility to the affair.
QE looked good for a first time NCAA start. I saw plenty to like and lending itself to belief in him in the future.

BUY

The storied gooner tradition of grabbing one’s crotch and faking pain is only second to the proud long standing tradition of Longhorn fans preferring QB2 or 3 or 4.

This young man did exactly what was needed. Consistently making smart decisions.

It'll get better with game experience.

Hey pomspons
, take some of that. An eye for an eye. But no hard feelings. I don’t even know your intent so I’m just playing along.

My post was accurate. Nothing false in there.

I am invested in his success. One game does not a career make. There’s never been a QB alive who has his best game every week. All that to say I don’t really care about one start versus ULM. None of what he did was convincing towards his long term success or failure.

But if we are to compete versus Bama, he’s going to have let it fly sooner and make quicker decisions. He really only threw 10-12 passes that required much thinking on his part. Sark does a good job of incorporating simple, quick stuff. Let’s hope that’s hitting this week. Maybe QE lights it up.

I thought Ewers was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but not a bust either. It's really difficult to judge because our talent level is so superior to ULM's. I don't expect victory vs Bama. I don't even expect a close game. But this game will be a better indication of where Ewers is as well as the team overall. I'm hoping for vast improvement over recent years. And that will come from the eye test for me, not the final score.
