My brother in-laws dad had heart surgery today and things did not look good last phone call I got.
They finally took him off the machine and his heart is beating on it's own but he's critical.
Don is a great guy and my sister is very fond of her father inlaw and Greg, my brother in-law is close to his dad so this is rough right not for them.
Please if you can say a prayer for Don for healing and strength for Greg for getting through this stressful time because he too is a great guy.
Thanks.

I wanted to say that Greg is my sisters second hubby and he's made her so incredably happy he's her soul mate and that makes me very happy and what effects them effects me because I love them so I am really wanting to let the prayers pour in.

Thanks again.

Thanks guys.
I heard from my sister and as of yesterday he was slowing improving yet not fully out of the woods.
He's weak and has a weak sternum (sp) so his healing will be influenced by his activities.
It was a 5 valve bypass , yikes, they had no idea how bad it was untill they got in there.
Thanks again for the prayers .

Bevoette, will keep him in thoughts, and prayers....for strength, life and love for many years to come. Bless you and your family.

Thanks again guys. Here's an email update I got from my sister today. thought I'd share it since she went into a bit of detail.

""Dear Family and Friends,

Thank you for your kind words and prayers for my father-in-law Don Pitts. He is now in a “Telemetry” Room in the hospital. He was moved Monday afternoon from the ICU. He has been on a long journey. He is on the road to recovery but it is going to be a long road. Please continue your prayers for his recovery. He will be in the hospital for at least two more weeks. Then he will go into a Cardio Rehab program. We are still in the planning stages for his after care and I will keep you posted. They are planning to remove staples on Wednesday and boy he has a lot of staples. They are hoping that they can remove the chest tubes today but all depends on the amount of fluid he is retaining. He weighed 220 pounds when he checked in last week and by Saturday night he weighed 274, this all because of the fluids they had to give him to support him after surgery. By Monday he was down to 251 pounds. I wish I could do that! They have started physical therapy on him Tuesday and it really is tiring him out. Terry told me last night that he would fall asleep in mid sentence. He is doing remarkable considering he had a Quintuple By-Pass surgery that required taking a large artery out of his leg and one out of his collar bone. We thank God for the healing that has taken place so far. God has provided a wonderful hospital, caring staff and a skilled surgeon. Thanks be to God for his grace and miracles he offers daily!""

More bad news. My sister called me while on her way back to the hospital in Victoria.
Don ripped his incesions opened and busted what stiches or whatever was still healing inside.
It's a mess. He as getting up and coughed without his special pillow and basically tore himself up.
I feel really bad for him, he's a nice man and I can still see him playing his guitar at my nephews HS graduation party. If he gets through this they may have to consider an assisted living or nursing home since his mind is not focused well and he does not want to do what they ask of him and he's depressed.

I wish I could type exactly what my sister said but that was a few hours ago and I was just kind of sadden and shocked at the news.

Please keep him in your prayers and thanks again.

Bevoette,

As before, my heart and prayers go out to your family and especially for Don in this trying time.

God's wisdom is all, and the best, that we can hope for.

God Bless

I had double bypass surgery and a valve replacement in June so I have some idea what your BIL's dad is going through. Beleive me, my prayers are with him and your family. That special pillow they gave him to help him cough should become an extension of his hand. I learned not to move more than an arm's length from mine. But just to let you know that things will improve - though it may seem to take forever - today, I mowed my lawn for the first time since the last of May. Hang in there, we'll keep praying.

Okay from what my sister said Don FINALLY had the surgery to repair his chest opening, sounds gross sorry. they gave him anitbiotics as well. Just wish he could have gone to Austin or Houston for all this, bet he would have gotten better treatment.
He's a fighter but still depressed. He will need a lot of time and threapy to heal.
Thanks again for the prayers and keep'em coming.

prayers coming from me also.
