Brooks injury,

I have re watched the play where Brooks was injured several times..

It caught my attention at the time because I though I saw the TCU tackler grab one leg than roll him. Brooks kicked the guy with his other leg.

Was that intentional trying to hurt Brooks? I know that conspiracies belong on the "West Mall" where they are rampart, but still.

As it happened, my immediate reaction was that it was intentional and the dirtiest of the dirty. However, I can't say that for sure, it was just my emotional response.

I saw what you saw, and told my wife the TCU guy was trying to hurt Brooks. At the time I didn't know Brooks was indeed hurt.

I can’t see the intentionality in it when I watch it. To me it looks like their momentum had them rolling and that is how the tackle finished. It honestly looks to me like right when he goes to tackle him he hits his knee on the side… I’m wondering if that is not when the damaged actually occurred.

Yes TCU is known to be dirty, but after watching it multiple times I'm not seeing intent to injure on that play.

Im a homer as much as anybody but It was a clean hard tackle.
Agreed. I bleed orange and have been pulling for Brooks, but it looked like a football play to me. Not sure what the motivation would be to hurt him.

Anyhow, I’ve always thought that intentionally hurting an opponent is dumb and wouldn’t be accepted by the team’s leadership because it exposes everyone else to justified retaliation.

As I watched it live I thought there was too much effort put into twisting the leg. I did not record it so the replay left me with the same impression that he twisted after they were both down.

For me I thought was a legitimate play but wife on the other hand thought (and expressed it forcefully so I shut up quickly) that he held on to the leg with malicious intent.

I rewatched it carefully as well, and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. The defender held on the leg until the tackle was completed then let go. I have no problem with the tackle.

Its only West Mall fodder if the injury is Hamas related.

What were the reactions of the coaches 20’ away and the players on the field? That should tell you everything.

They were probably upset like all of us, fearing an injury to their one of our meal tickets.
Of course. But if they thought there was intent behind the injury or even if the tackle was unsafe, then their reaction would be quite different than normal. I saw no reaction from the coaches or players that would suggest the tackle was made with intent to injure.

So many of his runs have needed just a smidgen of different angle for a much longer gain. Just a bit quicker block read and he goes for 8-10 yards at least instead of 2-3, maybe he catches fire tomorrow or maybe Robinson or Blue get their shots, we shall see.

There was a successful HS coach who wrote scouting reports for his team to read. He loved the phrase, "Can be a player, but so far runs well in spurts". Thus far for me, that describes Baxter. It seems to me that Blue runs harder inside. One of the two needs to growup and shine before 7pm

I feel somewhat guilty being critical of Baxter, seemingly a classy and humble young man, but I am with SH here. Historically great Texas running backs exhibit their greatness very early in their careers, as in Game 1. You could definitely see it with Ricky, Cedric, Earl, even Foreman — a 2-Star (as I recall) that we signed because we wanted his brother.

I’m really hoping that Baxter is exception to this observation and that indeed he was slowed by the injury earlier in the year. I also believe that he will get bigger and much stronger, which will make a difference.

Tonight is a big game for him.

I'd like to see Red under center in short yardage situations, but his "attitude" has come damn close to costing us 15 yards a couple of times in recent weeks.
yes,^^^ Red needs to allow his "attitude" to manifest itself in his running, not through his mouth!
