While Briles is contemptible and certainly at the center of one of football's most horrific scandals, I think the comparison to Paterno is unwarranted.

Please consider:

1) All the victims in McLennan County were above the age of consent. That doesn't make it acceptable or diminish the severity of the crimes, but Paterno/Sandusky were molesting and attacking children, not adults.

2) While Briles loaded his nonconference schedule with cupcakes, he did play some tough conference games. 70% plus of Paterno's wins came against teams with losing records or not P5 quality.

3) I can't see Art Briles ever passing on the opportunity to play for a National Championship. Paterno not only ran and hid from a National Championship game, he outright refused to play in that game. Can't think of any other coach that would have done that. Then he whined and cried about how mistreated his team was.

There is a lot more to the State Penn situation than ever became public, it would make you sick to your stomach.

Apparently Art Briles is feeling really bad about all of this and wants to give back to the profession by helping other coaches ensure Title IX policies are in place. Wow... what a great guy.... too bad he got cancelled.
