BREAKING NEWS TEXAS RANKED # 23rd in the Nation

I guess they could consider that he has done all the damage he can do, but that would mean they won't understand until $150+ million is withheld next season.

CDC understands, not sure the BOR does, and probably won't unless Chris asks them to write the checks to make up the difference..

Notice where all of those bowls are....
All in urban, minority, and/or more liberal (not a political statement) areas. That is to be expected. The others will go on...just like those areas have with most other things...their approach to covid has been different than in these other pockets and bowls will be no different.

Sabre are you saying that BMD will withhold $150M of the annual revenue for 2021?

Yes and no. They are already withholding $125 for the South End Zone. The $150 will be donation and operating revenue losses. Lots of people throwing in the towel. I have multiple friends who are 50 year season ticket holders. They are opting out.

So the BMD's own this football program. Man... I'm not sure I like that any more than I like the players extorting the program over their demands. Who would want to be the AD? It's a total no-win situation. EVERYONE is out of control.

If the BMD withhold $125M for the SEZ and cancel their season tickets going forward CDC could look at revenue bonds to make up the shortfall. Anybody know what the rate is on revenue bonds with 10-15 year term?
Are they tax deductible?

Also that many cancelled season tix might provide better seating options for the fans who opt to stay in.

CDC has a lot to handle going forward and imo is the right man for the job.

I'll let Jim Morrison tell it...

Yep....this^^^^^...and more..
Bystander, the situation here is way uglier and more dire than 75% of the people on here realize.
And I am an unapologetic, glass half full, look at the bright side optimist most of the time.
But one must be a student of truth and dwell in reality..
This isn't about Meyer, Tom, woke, hornfans, BMDs, regents, professors, BLM, media, pay sites, Del Conte, politics, fans, culture, Austin, national perception, recruits, etc.
This is about everything together, why it is, and what it means.
If you can't figure out what it means, then you are just as toast in trying to correct it as that dude (or gal) who keeps ruining his life and doesn't realize it's him/her...and only a deep dark, uncomfortable look in the mirror will reveal the cold hard truth and suggest the real reason his or her life's in the shape it's in.
No, I'm in the UT and the football program specifically have crossed over into a new dimension which may never be crossed back out of again...at least not soon.
I could always be wrong. I expect, though, 2020 will mark the year a new reality set in for this school, fan base, and football program.
Prepare for 8-3/7-4 and Texas/Alamo/Cheezit bowls to continue for some time.
#23 is about where we will reside....and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

I'll remain a fan.. and go to or watch all the games. I'll cheer and support. But I'm pulling back a bit and just gonna be a more casual fan
..."Due to health reasons" ya know??

With funding comes control.

USC was in an equally sorry dumpster fire late last year. Now, they're undefeated and their program is sitting roughly so-so at this point (that state of their program might be a tad generous). You can bet their big $ alumni throw their weight around. Michigan is in an even sorrier state than we are now. You can also bet that their big $ alumni throw their weight around. Some places just don't tolerate mediocrity. This is one of those places.

Was shocked to read USC was undefeated. But they've only played 4 games, and have not played or beaten a team with a winning record (both AZ teams, Utah, and Was State). I think they only have one more game - a 3 and 2 UCLA team, so they avoided Oregon this year, though they're not good either. Whole conference should just stop right now.

So, the reason there's that fancy stadium and lights and jumbotrons and nice locker rooms etc etc is the fact that people with money finance the operation. And, as "stockholders" of the UT football team, they're an unofficial "board of directors" that have say-so in how that money is spent. Whatever Gomer is spending the money is always shocked when he finds he really wasn't in charge.

I get all that but it's out of control. They are no longer helping the program on the field.

Can hear Brent Musberger now...

"You are looking LIVE at the New Mexico Bowl, being played in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas..."

Well then reject their money (or be ready for them not to offer it), and see what product is left on the field.

I get that. Luckily, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm not in that world. I wouldn't want to be either. I like to watch a good game. I don't like people pushing their weight around. To be perfectly honest, I'd be just fine if this site was only about West Mall.

Seriously.

I'm willing to consider that the players may have provoked this. And that maybe Herman just made a very poor decision in how to handle it. In the absence of the off-season turmoil, maybe the BMD's would just be their normal selves, which is to say, I'm glad I don't know any of them. Would Herman be fired for the same record absent the turmoil? Probably not.

Those are the smaller bowls and if the number of fans allowed to attend are restricted to 25-30% they don't make money.

Something I noticed when I looked more closely at a number of those small bowls is that they are basically the property of ESPNevents. In other words, ESPN is in over their head and Disney is the one that wants changes made to the fiscal outlays...with 'rona giving a likely out for the contractual obligation which otherwise exists.

Good emphasis on "LIVE". Exactly how he would say it.

College football went downhill when he was pushed out. Heard it here first.
