Well I am glad to see we are all on top of the analysis for RRS nice and early, so let the madness continue.
OU analysis:
Defense - Pretty good, veteran secondary with some young talent to back them up. Linebackers and D-line. Spotty, they have great talent but not a lot of depth. Overall, this is a good defense that has no glaring weaknesses. They are not as deep as some but they probably can contain UT to 35 or less.
Offense - Damn good. The o-line is NFL caliber. The tandem at RB are very damn good also. Bradford is a poised pocket passer, but is not know as a scrambler and has tossed a couple of picks under pressure. In WR there is good talent, but not as scary as the last few years.
UT analysis:
Defense - Everybody knows the name of the game here. Secondary is talented, but almost all rookies. So for us secondary is a big ???? Are they talented enough to get a pick against Bradford and hold down some pretty large receivers? We will know more after Colorado and Arky. D-line and linebackers, damn good. Our front 7 will be a veteran well oiled machine by the time RRS is here.
Offense - Not as potent as OU but good. Our QB is awsome and he is behind an o-line that should be top notch by RRS. Run game, not really impressive, but good enough and diverse enough to hold their own (my guess is RBs get about 80 yards in RRS combined). WRs, are talented and deep as all get out.
Put all of that together and what do you have? You have a great OU offense against (IMHO) a great UT front 7 and pretty good backfield. On the other side you have a very good UT offense and a good OU defense, that is not very deep. What does that make for...a damn good game. Special teams will obviously be very important, as will field position, and turnovers. All of this favors OU, but only slightly. To win Texas will have to force at least two turnovers and play above their level of experience. I look forward to the game and to the thrashing of this post. Good day.
