wow i cant stand the taste of fiji... ive only had it once though, maybe it was a bad batch.... I love the cheap HEB stuff with the big ole Texas flag...
I like Fiji and Ozarka. Arrowhead is teh suck. As is Evian, which tastes like there's soap in the bottle. Not a fan of Aquafina either. Deja Blue is OK.
So long as it isn't from the Big Spring municipal source, it's fine.
I usually drink tap water. Even when I get a big 1 liter bottle with the good sipping nozzle, I'll just refill it at the sink and put it back in the fridge.
When I was a kid, bottled water is what you drank in Mexico, or when you were going into the boonies where there was no water supply. That's it.
We seem to have hydrated just fine back in those dark ages.
My favorite is water from my PUR filter, put inside an empty bottle and chilled in the fridge. That stuff is smooth. I keep three or four on the ready, it's the only water I actually look forward to drinking.
Hey brisket, I completely agree with you. I usually drink tap water, and a lot of it. Here in Austin I actually love the taste of the tap water, but maybe it's just because I grew up with it.
But scottsins' question was purely about ranking rather than my own editorial commentary, and for me personally, the only one that I've had where the taste just wowed me was the Fiji water. I've tried all of the others mentioned above, and most of them are okay, but Fiji is the only one I've ever had that made me actually consider buying bottled water simply for the taste. Of course, it's expensive enough that I rarely do that.
Every few trips out to the lake, I usually buy a pack of Fiji and toss them in the cooler. And then I refill the bottles with tap water and keep them around in the refrigerator as long as possible, until I lose them or they break or something.
[editorial1]Many of the bottled waters, such as Dasani, come from a municipal source - ie. tap water.[/editorial1]
[editorial2] Tap water is normally fine with me, either straight out (Austin supply or here at home w/ the water softner) or through a Brita pitcher. But I have lived places where even the Brita didn't get rid of the funky tasste in the water. Those places, I used lots of bottled water[/editorial2]
The convenience of bottled water is about the only reason our 4 kids drink it. They usually drink about half a bottle then forget where they left it the house, so to keep from spending a grand a year on bottled water, we refill the bottles from our Sears undersink water filtration system (a Consumer Reports Best Buy
Dasani has always had a bitter taste to me so it is at the bottom of th elist. Sparkletts, Deja Blue, Sam's Choice or basically any brand other than Dasani is fine with me.
