BONE DECIDES!!

I would have expected Bone to commit to Texas a few months ago. I believe Bone is really close to some of the graduating/former UT players. Their (graduating/former players) didn't quite click w/ the current coaching staff and I think some of that kind of relayed over to Miss Bone....

Good Luck to Miss Bone!! She's gonna be a stud at USC.

I have no idea what you last 2 posters are talking about. Evidently, you have inside info about some conflict within the team. Anyway, count me as one of the fans who is glad she isn't going to A&M. She's been on the scene here in Texas so long, it will seem odd for her not to be here somewhere. I admire her for going off the beaten track and going to a school without a history of success. She must get fired up by underdog situations.

Reed -- she looks to have a lot of promise. I wish some of her shots would have gone in. The jury is out, but I'm glad to have her and it will be fun to watch her develop.

Did she hint that she wanted to stay in Texas? Why was she so coy? She should have followed TJ Ford and Cat Osterman, not Rhett Bomar.

Does anyone really believe she couldnt make up her mind until the last moment when she planned to make her announcement? If that was true, I wouldnt want this kind of indecisive players in my team. Her attention-grabbing show was a little annoying and a little amusing, but I wish her well.

Glad to see she has made her college decision. The problem I have! Will we ever see her play in the NCAA Tournament. I do believe S.Carolina will eventually be good. But am not for sure while K.Bone is there. So now the whole family is moving to S.Carolina mmmmm !

USC won three games in the SEC this year, but they played some of the top SEC teams fairly closely. They had a 1 point loss to NC State, a 4 point loss to Auburn, a 6 point loss to Georgia, a 10 point loss to Vandy and a 7 point loss to LSU. They lost to Miss St by 10 in the SEC tourney and we lost to Miss St. by 8 in the NCAAs.

USC also signed a highly ranked point guard (10th best PG by Hoopgurlz - ranked ahead of Flores) out of NY, Ieasia Walker, as well as Monique Willis, who is also on the Hoopgurlz list for 2009 recruits. So I would guess that their 2009 is ranked higher than ours.

They lost a lot of SEC games but it looks like they were more competitive than their results may imply. I would guess that with the addition of Bone, Walker and Willis, that they are going to hold their own in the SEC next year and will likely be an NCAA tourney team.

If you look on the Tennessee fan board they all say that if Tennessee cannot get Bone they hope she comes to the SEC and plays for USC. The more great players in the Big 12, the better. If you play better competition, you get better, which means that you are better prepared for the NCAA tourney. I use Louisville as a good example. Do you think that playing UCONN three times this year did not make them better? And now they are in the Final Four.

We should welcome greater competition, not wish to avoid it.

Not even Steve Spurrier has been able to win consistently at South Carolina, and he was a former Heisman Trophy winner, won a national championship while coaching at Florida, and coaching in the NFL.

Maybe Dawn Staley can get them into the NCAA tourney consistently next season or the season after that. Those might be the expectations for that program at this time.

We''ll have to see how long it takes Staley to get USC into the top half of the SEC standings . . .

I guess it will remain to be seen if Staley and Bone will turn S. Carolina around like Mulkey and Young did at Baylor. Who knows, in a few years Bone may wish that she had gone to a more established program or she may feel great pride in helping a program develop.

one thing that can't be overlooked is that now the focus on the program will be her at south carolina - and i think she likes being the "focal" point -
interesting choice considering her options - i wonder how many games mom and dad will make a season - i hope nobody in the big 12 south schedules them in the next 4 years - i also have the same thoughts for other highly regarded recruits who spurn their home state schools

Sorry we're not getting her but was expecting it. I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED that we lost two in-state recruits to out-of-state schools in Nikki Green from Diboll and Kelsey Bone to Penn State and South Carolina respectively.

And have any of y'all checked out Dawn Staley's twitter? The Link
She seems quite illiterate. Embarrassing.

wow if her parents are moving to SC - the women's recruiting game is becoming more like the mens everyday and fast - just liking hiring aau coaches to get kids to sign

Realistically, with Bone, Reed, and Green, you are talking about three players who play the same position. They have some varying skills, but there are a lot of similarities. A hard sell if they all want immediate playing time.

I read this while at The Woodlands at a training seminar. I'm not really surprised. I had hoped that Texas would get two of the three (Green, Reed, and Bone) and at least one. We got one (Reed) that from what I have seen the last two summer camps is an excellent fit for what Coach G is building. Bone and/or Green would have been gravy. Hill is still the one that I think is needed more than Bone was. We have at least one more post player coming in 2010 and I assume that the staff will be pushing hard for at least one more post plus some wings.
