judging tt solely on the basis of a loss to new mexico is somewhat akin to judging ut entirely on the basis of a loss to ksu.

tt beats ou 2 of the last 3 years, defests #4 cal in a bowl game, beats virginia in a new year's day bowl game, loses on the last play of the game to bama in the cotton and they're supposed to not even be competitive with tenn.

Something that some are talking about is Tech's much improved defense. A defense returning just about everybody with a second year of the philosophy that defense does matter. The second year of an actual DC who is right to expect further improvement.

Comparing this years Tech team to any other year in the recent past is flat out silly. Will Tech be a collander still, who knows. But their defense was better last year and if things go as they should, they will further improve.

So it is not a given that Tennessee would score 40. There is no guarantee that Tech would not score 40 or more on them...this year. Now, in pretendsies football going back in the past and comparing teams, who knows. But that is the game many here are playing. "Funsies". No, not Funyons but some now would be tasty.
