Big XII Stadium Food

Maybe someone here can help me out with this -

My girlfriend is looking for food selections/menus and prices of the food served at the other Big XII stadiums. This may be tied into food selections around our stadium during games, but I don't know, not sure she does either...anyway it's what her boss wants to know.

I've recommended she get someone on the phone at the athletic departments, at least someone there should know what the options are. I've also suggested she post on the message boards of the other schools to see if someone there can get her search started.

Can anyone help her out?

Coach Mangino probably has the menus and prices memorized for every Big 12 Stadium.

I would find out who does the contracting for it. It is an outside company that pays a fee, a large fee, to sell concessions. It is likely for all events. Then contact them and I think they would be happy to tell you if you let them know what it is all for.

well, it can't be any worse than hours...nobody should be able to beat us for crappy stadium food. luckily, im usually stuffed by the time i enter the stadium.

We have the best reconstituted squirt on cheese in the conference. Our popcorn comes from the finest garbage sacks in the country before it is lovingly dumped into the bin and reheated. Only the freshest packets of squirt on mustard will do for our unique hot dogs which feature buns that have been pasted on to the mystery meat. No sir, there's no better eating than you can find at DKR, well, at least you can't pay more anywhere else in the conference. Oh, and they'll give you a Dixie cup of 100 degree water to help wash it down. I'm telling you, those folks at Belmont insist on the finest.

While I rarely get food at DKR, I will say that even though it is taco bell, which sux at all times. The fact that you can get taco bell for VERY minimal mark up is greatness. I don't really like Taco bell, but for $3 you can get three items. (taco, soft taco, or bean burrito) really, that is the cheapest decent stadium food I have come across.

And better food will cost more, and then people will complain about that.

If you want better food (or cheaper food), why not eat somewhere else before or after the game instead of insisting on that sausage wrap or pizza or Quiznos sandwich that you'll spend the rest of the game complaining wasn't worth what you paid for it?

I stood in line behind some chick buying like 6 bottles of water at one game. When the guy behind the counter told her it was $3 per bottle, she made a disgusted face and said it was "highway robbery." I could tell the guy was thinking exactly what I was thinking: well, you're the one buying it, lady. It's simple economics: the prevailing price of any good or service is what people are willing to pay for it. And since you're standing in line, willingly forking over $3 for each bottle when you have other options (i.e. buy it from the tap or get it from the water fountain), then I guess it's not highway robbery after all.

It really kinda depends on where you sit regarding the stadium food. The West UD pretty much blows. Just the generic fare, which would be fine if the hot dogs weren't gray and probably some form of compressed Alpo. The sausage wraps are decent, but they seem to run out of them alot. Taco Bell is fine, but not good. The Pizza Hut pizza is an abomination against god. I too agree that the Gatti's pizza was good -- alas, money talks at Belmont and Gatti's couldn't hang with the 'Hut.

When you go downstairs, the options are much better. Quiznos, Pok-e-jos, corn dogs (that are a hollow shell of Fletchers). All in all, probably pretty middle of the road. I just wished that the general stadium food, hot dogs, nachos, etc, were better. Especially the hot dogs, which I would not feed to my dog, nor would she eat it.

not Big XII, but UH has draft beer, ritas, and frozen daquiris.....go ahead and close the thread...they win in a landslide

The lemon chill is about the only thing I will buy in there, which is good on hot game days. Of course, if it is a hot game day, they usually run out of lemon chills after the first quarter.

The stadium at NC also had gray hot dogs.

Earl's tortilla sausage wraps at DKR are not bad. Of course the ones straight off Robert's grill are better.

I had a damn good sausage on a stick to go with my beer at the UH game. Mmmmmm.

The best Big XII stadium food BY FAR is the Runza sandwich in Lincoln.

I almost forgot to pile on. Yes, the food at DKR-TMS is downright terrible. I don't care how much it costs. They need to get some decent food in that joint.

Everybody needs to quit complaining and get over it. You're there for a football game, not a gourmet meal. The food at DKR is more or less the same as at every other stadium. The dogs and pizza are edible, Earl's sausage wraps are good, the popcorn is stale, the "nachos" are nasty because of the fake cheese, and everything is overpriced. If you don't like the food at DKR, don't eat it. Just eat somewhere before or after the game, or both.

The Lemon Chill and the sausage wrap are pretty good, but that's it.

For a school in the middle of a corn field, ISU made some gawd awful kettle corn, and it's made on site right before your eyes.

My NU friends always talk up the Valentino's, but it's no better than Pizza Hut. I end up buying a couple slices so I can have the cardboard boxes to stand on during the game. Standing on cardboard keeps the concrete from sucking away all your body heat. Remember where you heard that helpful hint.

Sincerely,
Heloise
