Big XII conference does not excuse our playing

BAck to the original point of the post - it is not an excuse. It is a fact. We play in a very tough, competitive conference which means we are never going to get an easy win. It means we will play excellent teams almost every week and sometimes they will beat us.

Someone explain this to me, however, becasue I have never understood the logic - what is so magical about our facilities and resources that should be making us so much better than everyone else? From where I sit, the coach with the most talent not the most expensive equipment usually wins.

You are right, facilities and resources won't win games - but I guess the logic might be that the elite players would want to play where facilities and resources are the best. Maybe so, maybe not.......

Outlookdude...keep up the little jabs. I occasionally go to a bar here in Denver to watch OU football games because I have a very dear friend who is an OU fan. Every time they finish the OU fight song they yell "Texas Sucks", no matter who they are playing. So, every OU SUCKS that you would like to post is more than fine with me...because when it comes right down to it, OU DOES SUCK! That's why they have their own special little ICON on this board.

I think that the elite players typically go to a school because they think they will have a chance at a national championship. I can honestly say that given my choice of average facilities with a shot at a national championship or world class facilities with very little chance at a championship, I am going where I have a chance to win it all.

Thanks for the OU sucks support……Every time I see UT playing anyone in the Big 12, and often outside conference too, I see continual horns down. atm even talks about Texas in their fight song. I take these things as a sign of respect.

I meant no disrespect, just like I am sure that Seattle meant no disrespect with the “Lady Horns” comment. Let’s be clear….OK has an outstanding women’s basketball program, excellent players, and a very good head coach. They are certainly the favorite to win this basketball game, and they have earned that on the floor.

But, isn’t it easier and a lot more fun to just say OU sucks?

Reach out to the student body??? The only reason She needs to reach out to the student body is to find basketball players as good as the ones she is playing against, if there are any in the student body. Put players on the floor who are as athletic as your opponent, and coach them up. Then you will see fans in the seats cheering. Coach G will have a tough sell to get great players. A&M is very good, OU, and Baylor have it going on. recruiting isn't easy with those schools in your conference, along with going against elites like UConn, Duke, Rutgers, and Tennessee. She doesn't have the luxury of a down Nebraska, A&M, etc, and 25 'ships a year; that Mack Brown has. If one of her recruits is a bust ( can't make the transition from HS quickly ), or she can't pull a big fish from the claws of the national powers; she is gonna suffer on the court. It will take a lot of luck, and years to get Texas back. Jodie built the program, but she let Baylor and others jump ahead of her in the last years. Coach G has a tough job ahead of her. Fans like winners. The basketball programs draw more fans when the football team sucks. I don't want that.
