Big XII Baseball Tournament

Melendez strikes out with bases loaded. Texas takes the lead but once again a chance to take command of the game is missed. All season long the strikeouts have been a major issue but they have really bitten this team in OKC thus far.

Hate to go to the top of nine with only a one-run lead, but if it happens, so be it - the closer will need to do his job and shut them out in the top of nine.

Texas wins 3-2

BUT not without drama. Runner on first, they and steals second, then Witt doesn't even check him and he steals third. Witt then strikes kid out to end the game.

Pitching was great, but there was no reason for the Horns to take bats to the park. The guys down the left field line in Coaches got more "hits" than our offense. How many LOB?

Horns need to be strategic about however many games they have left in OKC. The goal is about wining next weekend and into June not destroying your pitchers to win a conference tournament that will at this point likely have no impact on your national seed line. Kubichek is starter against OSU in game one today then if they win it’s bullpen committee the rest of the way with likely Gordon as your number five starter but regardless there is no need to overwork your staff with regionals just five days away. I always thought two wins in OKC solidified a top four seed and the Horns have accomplished that even with the bats having stayed behind in Austin and eleventy billion strikeouts through three games. I would love to see Texas win three more games and get the tourney title but that is not the big goal for the next several weeks, Omaha is.

K-State is trying to play its way into the NCAA tournament and has a 5-2 lead on TCU in the bottom of the fifth in Saturday's first game. Wildcats must win to force a deciding game for group two.

I would like us to beat OSU with a good outing from Kub. Then like you said, let’s get the bullpen guys some experience.

K-State wins 5-2 and forces second game with TCU. Horns will start in about 30 minutes and must win twice to advance.

Why did TCU fall so far in national polls? They lost series to UT and KSU, but they are still Big 12 co-champions.
I’m going to say it’s probably due to lofty expectations followed by a string of late season defeats. Not a total collapse, but a letdown late in the season for the Frogs.

WOW! Another runner picked off first, but oSu misplays it with a bad throw, then Hodo doubles to tie the game 1-1.

TEXAS JUST GOT BACK TO BACK HITS!
