Big 12 WBB news

Not sure of the rules, but doesn't Whittaker leaving allow her to transfer again? I feel like I just saw a similar story with one of our opponents. The name is escaping me at the moment
Oh no, no way. Imagine the insanity with transfers if that were true!

Goodwin, the guard at Oklahoma State transferred from UNT when Karen left and the again from Butler when that coach left.
Not quite. This summation is a good starting point, from the UTSA bio:
http://goutsa.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2192

Junior (2015-16)
Sat out due to NCAA Transfer rule.

Prior to UTSA
Started out collegiate career at North Texas and played one season (2012-13) earning Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors ... averaged 13.1 points per game and broke the single-season record for most 3-pointers with 64 ... only player in the nation with consecutive games of seven 3-point field goals ... set a freshman UNT record with seven 3-pointers in a game ... led the Sunbelt and ranked second in the nation amongst frosh with 83 steals ... transferred to Butler for 2013-14 season but had to sit out due to transfer rule ... named All-BIG EAST honorable mention for the 2014-15 season ... led Butler in scoring at 15.6 ppg ...

1. Played UNT 2012-2013,
2. transfer to Butler, redshirts 2013-2014
3. Plays for Butler 2014-2015
4. transfers to UTSA, does not have a second redshirt. Sits out 2015-2016
5. Plays for UTSA 2016-2017 and graduates
6. Transfers to OK State and can play immediately since she is a graduate transfer
7. Playing now, 2017-2018 for OK State

As a graduate student, you can play 4 years of college ball in 6 years. No where was she allowed to immediately play after transferring because the coach left or got fired. Each time she moved, she had to sit out one year (in undergraduate)

In regards to Mckenzie Calvert (who I didn't know until this thread started), her Tech bio gives clues:
http://www.texastech.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5381
1. Played for USC 2014-2105 (1 year used up)
2. Transferred to Kansas, sat out 2015-2016
3. Played 1.5 years for Kansas 2016-2018
4. Special circumstances from the transfer: http://www.kansan.com/sports/kansas...cle_c0520f68-39a8-11e7-b75f-d7c50b70f849.html

Calvert tweeted on May 10 that she has been granted permission from the program to contact other schools. Starting in December, she will have two years of eligibility left as a graduate transfer.
5. So, she's burned up 1 year of her 2 years of graduate transfer eligibility.......

That's interesting. In this case, I don't know how they rule on this. You may be right, although I'm not sure Texas touches in this case as this is a lot to work through a person who would be on their fourth school and left partly through grad school.

In this case, I shrug and says, "Who knows?"

Anyway, my original point was that players can't transfer without sitting out just because their coaches get fired.

That's unfortunate for Combs and OSU. I remember when Combs got hurt and had to be assisted to the locker room. I was surprised to see her back on the court for the 3Q. For having an injury, she performed well for OSU in the 2nd half of our game.
