Big 12 Champions!

The last two games were the best I've seen Matt play. His decision making tonight was at a very high level. He attacked the hoop, made assists, protected the ball, and made the clutch free throws.
If he continues to play with this level of patience, passing and motion he'll take the team a long way in the tourney.
The ESPN BS has to be wrong, it has Matt with 1 A and 3 TO's. Ramey led with 4 A's.

I watched in person as TJ and crew cut down the nets in San Antonio in 2003, and as awesome as yesterday was winning first conference tournament in Big XII, it is nothing next to winning a regional and making a Final Four. Hopefully this team will get that experience too.

And it’s not too late for the naysayers to jump on the bandwagon and come along for the ride!

The Hook "Em is for the tourney championship. I couldn't be happier. I'll give it my personal * but I'm happy.

But since you called me out specifically because I am one of the "naysayers", I see progress with this team in the last couple weeks and love it. You made a remark about "signing Shaka to a long term deal" earlier in this thread. How about we enjoy this ride right now and see how far it goes then let him coach out his last year to see what happens when most of his experienced talent is gone. You are specifically looking for conflict by calling us (me) out and I still think next year we will barely be better than a .500 team again.

Yes, I'm really happy with what's happening right now!

The encouragement of naysayers to jump on the bandwagon post didn’t specifically call anyone out. But if the shoe fits...

There is no asterisk on this championship.
Will there be an asterisk if we go on to win it all?
Is there an asterisk on Bamas football NC?
They didn't play a normal schedule.
This is weird covid year.
Everybody canceled, forfeited or had games canceled.
Baylor only played us once during the season.
If they win it all is there an asterisk?
Texas played every game it was allowed to.
The Horns did what was needed to take home this trophy.
If there is an asterisk then every award won by every team in every sport (including the pros) this season has an asterisk.

That’s right. And we made the right move playing OU without three scholarship players and without our coach that time. We took a narrow loss, but our lads got more game experience. It all paid off.

Yes, I was referring to never winning the B12 tourney.
Hopefully more net cutting is in the near future.

Oh yeah, your passive aggressive posts throughout the list of threads basically saying you were right and we were wrong is calling me out. I still think Shaka is a bad coach. I am enjoying this ride and will watch every game hoping for a victory. You talking down Rick Barns saying Shaka is a better coach because of last night is laughable.

You can't erase 5 years of absolutely terrible coaching with TWO wins in this tourney. Maybe we make it to the final four and next year he comes back and does a fantastic job...that would make me VERY happy because I want this program to be elite. I just happen to believe that the talent is driving this and next year we'll be right back where we started.

Tom Penders and Rick Barnes both won two Big 12 tournament games before. The difference is, 2021 is the only time where 2 wins (against the #5 and #6 seed with a day off in between) was good enough to win it. Neither Penders nor Barnes ever lucked into a covid tournament. That said, it is good to know Smart is competent enough not to screw up the easiest possible big 12 tournament anyone will likely ever have.

Hopefully we all need to get rooms in Indianapolis! Let's enjoy the dance and hopefully it is a long long dance. It has been a great year with fantastic basketball, let's hope it keeps up. Do not worry about Brown, he is a great kid from a great family (Longhorn Legacy like Cunningham another great kid, actually everyone on the team appears to be a very good person) and he will be the MVP of at least one game.

Not sure how a beating KU in a glorified scrimmage (as Texas owned them this year and they are not exactly a great challenge to this team) would have made the path to winning the big 12 championship any harder, but I guess we all have our opinions. Personally, I wish we could have played so our bench guys would have gotten some good minutes just before the big dance.
