Better than Ricky???

Maybe not but it's a conversation now. Bijan put some runs on film today that were unreal. To me, he's running better than anyone on campus since Ricky, and I just hope he's around a couple more years to pick up Heisman No. 3 for the school.

I don't disagree but the team needed Ricky like this team needs Bijan. Jamaal Charles and Cedric Benson were hosses but were on good teams. If Jamaal Charles returns for his senior year we play for the national championship and Texas Tech loses that game in Lubbock (IMHO), he was a difference maker. But Bijan should be a top 3 Heisman candidate after this game.

I would rather honor Ricky for the greatness he showed
And honor Bijan for the greatness he is showing.
Each is incomparable in their time.
And That is the way it should be.

We have had some amazing runners.

In. my lifetime- Steve Worster, Roosevelt Leaks (would have won Heisman if not injured), Earl, Metcalf, Ricky, Charles, Priest, and now Robinson. Each made their contributions. Each should be honored.

That conversation becomes more viable when he can bull someone over at the goal line...he had no O-Line support and just sort of stood up...and the ball went over on downs. Yards look good on stat sheet but Heisman voters ALSO want to see scoring...at least with Corral not looking good today and Rattler not being as promised, Bijan remains in the top 5 for another week.

If one evaluates the entire skill set — elusiveness, strength, YAC, ability to juke in the open field, speed, hand/eye coordination, clutch, you name it — it’s tough for me to imagine that we have had anyone better than Bijan.

What’s Bijan’s 40 time? I thought Ricky was faster. I’ll give it another season and a half to compare them. Bijan’s gonna win us a lot of games. He’s a great one!

Ricky and Earl had a power that Bijan does not.
I do think Bijan has power. To this point it may look more like just strength because he is so hard to bring down even whilst carrying tacklers. He’s also powerful in his moves - he can make a move during contact and forge ahead. The only thing he truly lacks is top end speed but I’ll take a “move the chains” guy with occasional 20-30 yard burst every time.

Yeah, but Bijan makes people miss, and he made them miss alot today and has been doing so all year. Hes no Barry Sanders, but on that end of the spectrum, you want someone that can either run over them, or make them miss. I would take Earl or Barry, different but both damn good and fun to watch, and so is Bijan. Bijan has only been here two years, just sit back and watch him, don't get many special players like this, we will miss him when hes gone.

Bijan is good, and soooorrt of reminds me of Emmitt Smith, not too fast but always positive yards. Ricky could've passed Emmitt in rushing yards if he didn't love the bud so much (and there's that emotional issue/shyness/etc). Earl didn't know what a sideline was... Bijan is special, just not ready to call him Ricky or Earl's equal. Next year will be his last, though....unless he gets injured and it hurts his draft status...

One thing to consider is that the offense from which BR is running is very different than the set out of which both Earl and Ricky ran. Both had fullbacks to lead the way for them. Bijan does not have that luxury.

He makes a number of runs that I would not consider Ricky-like but he does not seem to have the speed to take the long run all the way to the house. Maybe I’m wrong here but seems to me Ricky had that speed even though he was a lot bigger. But oh those moves, those are all Bijan.

For any newcomers: Bijian Robinson was a true 5 star HS player in AZ.

BIJIAN ROBINSON IS SO ENCREDIBLY GIFTED.

He is a special, generational phenom player. The Horns somehow got him!!

Today, he had a HUGE breakout Heisman kind of game vs the Frogs!

I was pleased and grateful for HIM! He is a great kid. Very motivated, great heart, hardworking, unselfish, wants to win, etc.

Just not ready to go to full comparisons with Ricky & Earl yet. That time will come and I look forward to it.

In the meantime, I am VERY excited about his future at UT!!!:hookem:

Bijan, Earl and Ricky are all cut from the same cloth. Each are exactly what their teams need. Each are ‘run over your Arse’ running backs.

Appears to be a great kid on and off the field.

Also, he is from AZ !

Heck, and so did D'Onta Foreman (who also had an even worse offense around him). Right now, I'm not ready to say Bijan is better than Foreman or Charles, much less Earl or Ricky. On the other hand, he's only a sophomore and both those guys blew up as juniors - though Charles in particular was already a very good runner before than, he was just splitting time with Selvin Young, Henry Melton, and Ramonce Taylor.

He certainly has it in him to be up there with or ahead of any of them by the time his career is done. It's just too early to say he is yet.

On the other hand, we have spreads now, which tend to accomplish similar things. Instead of the FB blocking the guy so that he's out of the picture for making the tackle, the guy is already out of the picture because he's out near the sideline.

Impossible to believe that he got so few touches last year.

Why? He didn't stand out over Keontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson other than Ingram starting to take himself out the running with his fumble at the end of the TCU game followed by fumbling again on his first carry of the OU game. Bijan didn't really go off until the West Virginia game (his first game besides UTEP where he was over 4½ yards/carry).
