Current estimates are that there are 47.5 million African-Americans in the U.S. Assuming all A-As get the money, 14T / 50M is about $280,000 per person. That's a nice chunk of change, but it's only 5 1/2 years at $50,000/year. A single parent with 2 kids can draw $38,000 a year of welfare in New York. Reparations is just a glorified welfare payment and, as Mr. Deez said, it wouldn't solve anything long term. It would probably make it worse. A lot of people would be worse off financially when the money was gone than before they got paid.

Crack dealers would be happy. Car dealerships would be flush with cash as well. Am guessing some dentists would also be happy. Suspect that VERY LITTLE would actually go into the creation of something productive...

Ali was NOT wrong in his statement. Hell, we see it with the people who have received compensation for wrongful incarceration. And those were often smaller amounts than are being discussed here...
