Best team since 05....really?

I guess it's a nice time to revisit this with the "lull" before the CFP. I think the 2023 edition has proven that when you have a good OL/DL, anything is possible.

The rankings would be something like:
1. 2005
2. 2008
3. 2023
4. 2009

This is almost entirely due to the challenges faced on the field and things like MoV over good teams. 2005 probably had the worst strength of schedule, but the obvious best results. The bowl game in 2008 was kind of a let down and the team didn't play as well as it should have against a strange QB rotation. And for 2009, I put it behind this year because of zero run game and an exposed OL.

Beating Washington would vault this team into the #2 spot, but even if we won the national championship this year, it'd stay in the #2 spot. Needing OT to beat KSU and falling apart against UH and TCU just aren't low enough hurdles.
