Best singer in a falsetto

Alright I might get blasted for this, but you've gotta include Timberlake. You may not like the music, but the kid's got pipes.

Flame away...

If you don't answer Frankie Valli to this question, you answered it wrong.

Frankie Valli did not sing in a falsetto all the time. Have you ever heard "My Eyes Adored You"? "You're Just Too Good to be True"?

Frankie Valli defined the skill. The rest are imitators.

Texanne:

Not to steal the thread, but have you seen Jersey Boys?

frankie valli certainly defined pure falsetto in the post-do wop era. what orbison did was quite different and, sorry to tell you texanne, much more significant in the development of rock and roll.

frankie valli's foray into non-falsetto in the 70s was a different track for him, consistent with a new record label that wanted to move beyond his past with the four seasons. and i agree those were great songs. but his trademark will always be falsetto. he never mixed voices in a song. and for me his best 70s work was still falsetto. "Who Loves You" was a favorite song in my youth. i still remember kasey kasem describing that song on a sunday morning.

Texanne you would have loved Jersey Boys...I'm not sure if it's still playing in Texas, it left Houston last weekend I think. I'm not a 4 Seasons fan, but it was pretty neat seeing the majority of the crowd get so into the songs. The lead actor playing Frankie did a pretty good job singing the songs.

Texanne is right here

Frankie Valli defined the genre

Jersey Boys was excellent - you must see it if you are a music fan of the 1950s and 1960s

spring branch:

i would take the words "of the 1950s and 1960s" out of your last post. i'd just leave it at "you must see if you are a music fan.

i was thinking tiny tim first off. i thought he defined the genre. however, im liking the geddy lee answer. others that came to mind are martin sexton and chris whitley.

I don't think Freddie Mercury ever -- or hardly ever -- sang in a true falsetto. The guy just had unbelievable range.

I agree with you jimmyjazz, I think his range was just a lot more broad than other singers. Not necesarilly falsetto.
