Best cinematic shoot-out

I know many will disagree, but the other night I watched LA Confidential on late-night cable, and the climatic shoot 'em up at the Victory Motel has got to be one of the best ever.

All great nominees.

I also have always liked the scene in Miller's Crossing in which Albert Finney (playing Leo O'Bannon) is getting ready for bed in his house. He has "Danny Boy" playing on a phonograph.

Here is the scene:

The Link

I agree with Heat and The Wild Bunch at the top in no particular order.

A couple of others are...

1.The "Say hello to my leetle friend" scene in Scarface.

2.The scene in Unforgiven when William Muny gets really pissed that they decorated the saloon with his friend - "That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned."

I enjoyed the complete character transformation that culminates in the saloon shoot-out in 'Unforgiven'.

heat gets my vote.

terminator 1 where arnold goes on a rampage in the police station was pretty bad ***.

tombstone shoot-out was pretty cool.

as mentioned, the elevator scene in matrix reloaded

Some very good mentions here. Forgot about the T 1 scene.

May I suggest:

In the Line of Duty: The F.B.I. Murders (1988)

One of the best TV movies ever made and true and very accurate. Great movie if you can pick it up.

Would be wacky if it wasn't real. Michael Gross also turns in his best performance as a psycho bank robbing killer.

I second the motion on True Romance.

A great shoot out should be more than just a shoot out. In True Romance, it is a pivotal point in the plot and character development. (even if QT did rip it off the Mexican Standoff).
