Beebe's days as commisioner are numbered

This is america, if networks want to trade off on what games to show on what channels, more power to them.

Showing HS games and or highlights is going to bring up a lawsuit by the UIL. Broadcasting HS games and or a highlight show has to be money for the UIL, I can't see them sitting idle.

Both of these items would be mute if OU would man up and get their own network, I think it would be more popular than the local stations in OKC!!!!

I say Texas joins the SEC and the PAC-13, we could play two games a week as long as both conferences agree to not let AM or OU into their conferences!!!!

Has College Football become a socialist medium? Share it all and share it alike? Even the SEC doesn't share equally when its all said and done.

A public school whining about socialism.

“What if we share a small percentage?” the source asked. “That's a real strong show of support. Where's anybody going to go in any other conference that doesn't want all your network? Wouldn't it be a nice show of good faith?"

My response: GFY.

So what if other conferences would want us to rework our own multimillion dollar deal? Extortion is your only honest response?

"Well, I know we didn't earn any of it, and I know we don't deserve any of it, but that big pile of cash you have sitting there is intimidating... how about you hand over some of it so that we can still be friends?"

Get bent. Hell, I'm willing to make concessions on conference stuff more than most Horn fans I know. But handing over our own cash to "save" a conference that isn't willing to be saved? Unless they're willing to let us have a bye into the conference championship every year, or to rename the conference "Texas's *******," then hell no.

So after all the posturing, all the taking of high moral ground, it all boils down to money. Well taking that which does not belong to them, fits well with Oklahoma traditions so it's hardly surprising.

OU is bluffing. They need Texas and the State of Texas a lot more than Texas needs them or their state. We just need to do what's best for us and we make the rules. OU can choose to go with us or go their own way.

If the money gets too big the players will start demanding their cut. Afterall they are the ones risking their future employment each time they put on the pads. Once you start talking billiions it becomes a no-brainer. The players right now are only getting a few thousand each for their services. Soon they will be demanding hundreds of thousands and you might as well call them professionals at that point.

I agree with I35 too. Enough is enough with this Texas bashing. I can see UT going along with equal revenue sharing on tier 1&2 but the LHN is UT's tier 3 and an effort made solely by UT to acheive. If OU wish to push their welfare mentality on the LHN I say lets cut ties and move on.

I'd point out: the gist of this source's info was regarding Beebe and the whole "televising high school recruits" issue.

I can say with a fair amount of certainty that Boren doesn't really give a rat's *** about LHN revenue sharing. By the looks of it, I'd guess that's the point where this source started talking out his ***.

Sooner Cynic: I think UT will compromise on the televising of HS games as Dodds was already willing to give that up when the issue was raised several months back. Also, I'd be willing to bet UT would compromise on the airing of conference games to some extent. The LHN revenue would be a bridge too far. I can imagine that you are correct in that the source was talking out his *** on that point.

I35 I agree. Time to call OUs bluff. From the looks of it the PAC doesn't seem to hot on them.

Yes call ou's bluff.

I wish people would quit saying "we make the rules". We shouldnt want to make the rules. We should want to abide by the rules. Lets divide 1 & 2 tier rights and keep the 3rd tier rights. Everybody keeps their 3rd tier rights.

I'm starting to get really whizzed off at everybody that seems determined to neuter UT and the LHN.

I'd respect OU's stance on the Big 12 more if 1.) they met privately with UT to talk over their differences instead of airing them publicly, and 2.) if I didn't get the feeling they're trying to get all the concessions they can after getting vibes that they're not that welcome in the PAC.

I've been pretty vocal about not liking the Big 12 since it was formed...it's always felt like a shotgun marriage between someone and a bunch of ex-wives. However, I do think, at least for a time, having a big boy conference in our own neighborhood is preferable to heading to either coast to play our games.

One point I can agree with OU on...Beebe has to go. They say up in Norman that we need a consensus builder. That's fine, but I think the Big 12 needs something more. The conference needs to find our own Larry Scott, someone with demonstrated vision, and a doable plan to rebuild the conference into one nobody else would ever consider trying to raid. That kind of commissioner is going to require the power to ramrod a LOT of major changes through, whether or not UT, OU, or any other conference member agrees. I'm not sure where you find someone like that...maybe in the business world.

I also have no problem with equal revenue sharing of tier one and two tv rights. Regarding tier three, if the conference is going to affect the LHN in any way, UT needs to get paid a pretty penny for all of the work put into the network.

Reference expansion, the conference needs to grow back to twelve teams, and the three new ones need to be substantial additions. I think a more stable Big 12 can get BYU and West Virginia, both of which would be sufficient additions. I'm coming around to adding TCU, even though they don't bring a new market. They have an overall good program that could hold their own in a revamped Big 12.

That's a lot of IF's...I'm still skeptical about the chances of Big 12 survival, but if the rest of the conference wants this to happen, and will play well together, and if nobody (That means you Mizzou and OU and OSU) will flirt with other conferences, but commit to trying to make this conference better, there's at least a chance. That's a little more than I thought the Big 12 had yesterday.
