Baylor!!!!!

I hope Baylor wins tomorrow and knocks the aggies out of the ncaa tourney. That would be hilarious. Wonder what seed we will get. I'd say 7.8. or 9.

This team has been hard to watch all year. I don't even know why I bother to watch again, except I'm a true Longhorn fan. Looking forward to next year... I grew up in Waco and I really hate Baylor. I hope Damion stays, he needs the work.

Dex was out of gas. Couldn't finish on any plays around the hoop. Whenever your last gasp hope is AJ creating shots that's not going to happen. We had Johnson, and Atchley on the bench who are capable of creating offense. We let two 12 point leads get away, the last one for good. Ward was a good energy insertion but nobody else stepped up.

Hook'em!!!

I think the team tries hard, they just aren't very good. I will always be very disappointed after every loss, but I'm not surprised by any of them this year. This team will break your heart if you let it.

AJ's usually good for a bad shot in the last minute of every game if it's close; like someone said yesterday, we might be the worst team in america in the last minute of halves.

There's no doubt in my mind this team has tried hard and worked as hard as it could to make plays and score. This loss is disappointing and there's a lot of emotions running on this thread, but one thing is for sure - we're Longhorn fans and have lived, celebrated, groaned and despaired with this team.

three games in three days, and Horns need to be fresh and rested to start the NCAA, so I'm fine.... The Bears had lost 24 in a row, so I'm happy for them...

My hope now is that Baylor can shut down the Cowboy team and win the tournament, gaining an automatic bid to the Big Dance.

That might equate to the following Big 12 teams getting in:
Kansas, OU, Missouri, Texas, Ok-State, Baylor... leaving out a-and-m.

Good game by the Bears.

Nothing new for Texas. In any close game at the end they go away from driving to the hoop or going down low. They pass it out to AJ and just let him force long shots. He made a couple of them and did better than usual. However Texas just doesn't know how to win close games this year.

Against UCLA texas was up 6 points with about 3 minutes to go. Texas was basically just able to hang on in that one. Villanova wasn't really a close game. Texas had a 9 or 10 point lead for about the final 7 minutes of the game. They not only held on but won by 9. Wisconsin was a good example. That a back and forth close game and Texas did what was needed to get the win. Not many of those this year. OU texas got lucky with without Grififn. Texas did do enough to hold on but OU clearly was not the same team without their leader. Baylor was another decent example, but c'mon Bob that was a team that finished 5-11 in conference this year. Texas should have been able to find a way to beat them on Friday as well.

Texas found ways not to win close games much more often this year. Go back and look at Nebraska, Mizz, K-state, Arkansas, Michigan St., Notre Dame (4 point game with 1:42 to play), and Baylor. That is 7 games there that Texas had decent shot at winning games and lost them all. They should have been able to find a way to win 4-5 of those. Most of the horns wins this season came with big leads taht they could coast down the stretch. Whenever it was close they just fall apart this year at the end of the game and cannot close it out.

I don't understand how you could see it any differently this year. This is a sign of lack of leadership. Very similar to what we saw with the football team in 07.

Good Lord, two days ago they outscored K-State 7-1 in the last 2:20 to win the game.

They are not the Showtime Lakers when it comes to winnin' time, but they're not chokers in training, either.

They're just a pretty good, somewhat inconsistent, college basketball team.

AJ's definitely shot them out of a couple, but he won the game against OU. And AJ also had to take some of the shots he took, because the other guys couldn't get theirs.

i wouldn't say pretty good. we're ok.
and they consistently choke up near the end of the game.

like duna said, i've wanted to just give up and not watch a game, but i phene for Texas athletics and watch anyways. it's painful but those are our guys.

pressure is on for both our coaches next year---they disappointed this year, no question about it, and need to step it up in 2010

if i wanted a sarcasm meter attached to my post, i would have placed one...but thanks for reviewing Barnes previous records for me. as indicated THIS YEAR is a disappointment

Next year should no doubt be much better. I don't see Barnes being under any pressure though.

Next year they bring in a top class that includes Avery Bradley and Jordan Hamilton....two of the top 10 prospects coming out of HS. Williams as well is a top 100 kid.

The class after that includes a top 5 kid and a top 20 kid. Barnes already has the next 2 classes lined up that will bring in top talent to get the job done.

In addition to those 2 kids though coming in next year, Texas will bring back:

Johnson (Junior)
Balbay (Soph)
James (Senior)
Wangmene (Junior)....will get a medical RS at some point
Hill (Junior)
Smith (Senior)
Mason (Senior)
Pittman (Senior)
Ward (Soph)
Chapman (Junior)

There is a bunch of talent and experience coming back. I think PG is still a bit up in the air and Barnes has mostly only had really good teams when he has had a good PG. But with Pittman, Wangmene, Chapman, Hill, James, and Johnson you have got some pretty big bodies there. If Barnes can find the find combination of big men and outside shooters this could be a very good team. One that can play defense and rebound. A team that can play inside and outside on offense.

Future is bright, even though this year has been a bit up/down and disappointing.
