Baylor v Oregon State

23-18 OSU with 4:35 left in second quarter and Sulky has already shed her jacket.

Lol! I didn't see her do it but Sulky must have ripped off her jacket and threw it because in the studio I just saw Kara Lawson stand up and rip off her jacket and throw it. I'm sure she was imitating Sulky.

Down goes Baylor. Mulkey inexplicably burns her last timeout at 3:55 left in 4th Q with the game tied.

I'm thrilled for Oregon State and BU's loss!
:bounce1:

The technical foul shot made and the subsequent basket (IIRC) ends up being the difference in the game. Mulkey made Baylor proud tonight . . .

I'm SO happy you pointed that out!!! No doubt the blame for this loss will be put on the refs in Wacko.

Lots of reasons why Baylor lost tonight; credit to OSU for being the more composed team. I think Baylor not playing a close game over their last 20 games also was a factor tonight; they weren't used to being pushed all game long, being behind a lot, and being forced to make clutch baskets when it mattered most.

Rumor has it that Mulkey pulled down her white linen slacks and mooned the refs on the way out of the facility. They
ASSessed another technical.

With the very tough, competitive game we played tonight against the undisputed best team, I feel like we are winners. Baylor, on the other hand, looked unprepared, discombobulated, overwhelmed. I'd much rather be where we are tonight. I don't know if Oregon State was just much better than I ever expected, or if Baylor was badly off their game. I did want to see if they could make a decent run at UConn. But now I'll take this ---We are the ones who made a strong run at UConn and Baylor more or less came apart.

Reading the UConn Board, there were a lot of nice compliments toward Texas, but most of the people over there saw them as having an "off" game and not playing nearly their best. I guess they feel that way because they didn't beat us by more points, even though they shot an amazing 60% from the arc and played some great basketball. People are funny.

Thank God I missed the game and yet another Mulkey shedding. Some day she's going to pull too hard and just rip everything off, and ain't nobody ready for that. Wasn't there already some incident where she lifted up her top in a fit of rage? I don't mean the Louisville jacket incident, but some other game where she went apoplectic?

I'm disappointed that UT and Baylor won't get a chance to play each other on the big stage. I really would have enjoyed watching that game.

I will point out though that Mulkey was uncharacteristically gracious in defeat last night. Not only did she patiently wait at mid-court while OSU celebrated their first ever final 4, she gave the coach a thoughtful post game handshake and gave words of encouragement to each of their players as she went down the line. Doesn't do a lot to change how I feel about her and they way she's treated our players in the past, but I must admit that it was nice to see.

Did you notice, however, when the game ended....she stood there for about 10 seconds......took a couple of very deep breaths, then walked to shake hands with the other team---like she was, actually, having to decide if she would or not.
Every coach in every game shakes hands with the opposition. That's not "thoughtful handshake." Also, as she passed each of the Oregon State players she asked "Do you have my gold jacket? Who stole my jacket?"

I have to think something happened between her and Coach Aston - maybe that year they worked together - but is seems uncommonly personal from Mulkey's side.

You mean "some other quarter" where she went apoplectic?

Drama Queen.
Nope....she's their coach. It works for her based on her career record. Maybe some other coaches should find a new job as they can't seem to get the best our of their players. Just saying!!!!

There have been plenty of coaches who have won without acting like a petulant child, Jody Conradt being one them. And she didn't get the most out of this team. After UConn, baylor was by far the most talented team in the country. I respect Mulkey as a coach but not as a person. The constant whining from her and her players after every foul that goes against them is annoying.

I think we interpret the end of that game differently. I think she was genuinely letting their team have that truly special moment. And trust me, I don't give that assessment lightly. I want so badly for her to be mean and ugly to every team she faces so that it is much easier for me to hate her. But it seems that she is just like that with us :(

No, she isn't "just like that with us". All you have to do is look at how she acted with Jeff Walz from Louisville and the arrogance she showed after that loss. I have met her on a few occasions and she was gracious and nice. Her classless behavior last year with Empress showed just how petty and simple she really is. A little school girl who cries and whines when she doesn't get her way 100% of the time.
