Austin Visit Up Next For Jordan Hicks

Man I hope Jordan falls in love with the Longhorns and Austin!

Some insiders say it is between UF and UT. Some say tOSU and UT.

UT is the stated favorite team from youth and they are the constant in both 'likely scenarios.'

I get the sense that the kid is looking to get out of Ohio, that he still feels he is a southerner. I say this because he has no real Ohio ties while nursing an exiled affinity for the South. This has been stated on a number of occasions.

I also feel that, while offensive players from the great lakes area often decline offers from tOSU in favor of any number of other options, defenders are much less likely to do so. This is especially the case with LBs and especially especial in the instance of LBs from Ohio. These guys are usually on board early, as is the case with RBs from Ohio and the midwest. If they aren't on board early, then I get the sense that they are looking to avoid hassle in state while trying to get out (Ben Martin, who is a DE that went to Tennessee, is a great example).

tOSU in specific, and the Big X in general, put lots of LBs in the NFL. The style of play, while not dogmatically consistent, tends to tilt in favor of preparing LBs for a full slate of action both at the HS and college level. I really feel that, generally speaking, if you are from the area and play LB, seriously thinking about going to another part of the country to play suggests that you have reservations about playing and staying in the area which don't really have anything to do with football or what is seen at tOSU. They just want to go away.

There is the question of whether his mother can expect to find work where ever her son decides to go (she has stated she will move to be near him). Austin is probably as good a place as any to find work in the current economic climate, and I think she will somehow 'find' work, if that is what she intends to do.

Finally, while Hicks recently spoke of tOSU as having a favorable depth chart, what I said about LBs and tOSU above remains demonstrably true. They are stacked at the position, though, if Hicks is as good as people think (only issue is a lack of physicality), he should expect to get playing time fairly early. Regardless, tOSU has 5 or 6 LBs that are in the mix, including both physically gifted and highly productive types (Katzenmoyer is a gifted type, Laureneitis is a productive type). Hicks has to know this, so when he says the depth chart looks favorable I take that to mean he is trying to say positive things for the locals, which, in turn, makes be believe that everything or anything he says about tOSU is shaky.

I wouldn't say tOSU is out of it, but I would say that the tea leaves don't look good for the Bucks from where I sit.

"I would suppose someone explained to him they were booing Greg Davis, not the team."

How about just not Boo your own team - ever. When you Boo a team, you are Booing the kids, coaches, everyone, and its the stupidest thing a fan can do

If you don't like a coach, don't buy the ticket if you want to send a message to the administration. but Booing has no effect on playcalling or coach retention.

It's the stupidest, most negative thing a fan can do, as in the example of the hicks situation. the kids that play hard have to hear it, all the coaches, recruits, people on tv - its just an all around negative thing that becomes associated with your team/school - and it doesn't gain a damn thing

Booing at a time when our team really needs us is not the thing to do. It also indicates a loss of focusness. Shame on those that were booing.

I'm not a fan of booing (and haven't been to a game since 1999), but maybe those who were booing last night wanted to wake GD from his slumber and make him increase focusness.

I use to be a fan of booing, but I wouldn't do it myself except when I was playing. Now I am somewhat ambivalent to the act. As my former Portuguese ancestors who spoke a little french would say, comme ci, comme ca. We disowned them.

So what's worst, booing offensive play calling or taking off before the end of the 3rd quarter in a game still in doubt? Sad fact is that our fans did both.

Well I have irritable bowel syndrome and I hate pooing in public restrooms. Not that that is an excuse because I didn't even go to the game.

"Nobody was booing the team, they were booing Greg Davis and everybody knows that. And he deserved it, nuff said"

No. Not 'nuff said. There is no excuse for booing at any time. And to your comment, last I looked, Greg Davis was part of this team. Those that boo have never played, had a child play, or for that matter have any sense. 'nuff said.

As far as I could tell watching on TV the crowd was quiet/booing when the offense was on the field, and the only time they cheered was when the defense was on the field.

Let's just hope someone explained to Mr. Hicks that we had a "controlled" booing and it was aimed at one guy (GD). I am sure he will get it.

But if he watched that defense, he had to be excited to be a part of it.
