Such an amazing game tonight by both squads but Austin OWNED BC and then Austin came in and did his portion to ensure that Austin would always fondly remember this game.

Some of the BC players were doing this

when Austin came out of the game. They ALL were in awe.

Austin - thanks for the memories that will last a lifetime! Glad I was there to witness such a marvelous performance.

Another thing about Wood's performance: he threw 169 pitches, 120 for strikes.

Austin, thank you for great memories, and for giving your all for Texas!

I want to thank this board and the game thread for allowing me to follow the game while at dinner and then back at home. I am incredibly jealous of everyone who was able to see it in person but also grateful to everyone who kept the thread going with great updates. My hat is off not only to Wood and the whole team but also to everyone who continued posting till the game ended.

A buddy of mine played college ball back in the day, and he told me about when batters would return to the dugout.

If your at bat really stunk, say going down swinging, you'd come back to the dugout and say: "Shoot, that pitcher ain't got nothin'."

If you went yard, say a home run, you'd come back after plating and say: "Man, that guy's really got good stuff today."

But....... I bet last night/this morning, the BC Eagles were all coming back to the dugout, out after out, saying: "Damn, that guy's good. Who IS that guy?"

Allsome performance. Thank God for the interwebs. Was able to follow all the HornsFans comments on the thread, as well as listen to play-by-play on the TexasSports radio link.

I'm tired; need a nap.

As much as I never want to witness another game like that, I'm in awe of Austin Wood's performance. Even after a full-night's rest, the whole thing still dazzles.

Thank you, Mr. Wood, for allowing me to witness history. And thank you again, sir, for doing your part to ensure that bit of history had a happy ending.

Taking absolutely NOTHING away from Wood - a bonafide Longhorn sports legend was just born, but did I get this right? --- did Rupp catch the entire 25 innings?

I mean as loose as a thread of spaghetti that Wood's arm must be like today, think of the catcher, keeping his head in the game, calling each pitch, being the target of 90 mph fastballs pitch after pitch, keeping out of the way of batters swings, doing mental games with the plate ump, standing up, squatting down, bound up with extra padding and protective equipment on a hot evening/night/morning.

Kudos to Rupp helping keep both Austins on track.

Hell of a job. Bet his legs are aching this morning.

Rupp gets credit as well as Tony Sanchez from Boston College. After the game the two hugged each other and joked around. Only they can understand what each went through last night.
