Austin Bars/Restaurants You'd Cry Over

I'm pissed anyway sapo, not necessarily directed at anyone, just a general pissed.

I liked that place.

Kirby Lane
County Line
Cain and Abel's
Old Pecan St. Cafe
Cloak Room

I miss:
Maddog's shakes
Back when Ta Casita was a force--better bean & cheeses (sweet 22!)
Quackenbush's mocha lattes
Sam's BBQ

I was pretty miserable when Streamboat closed... And when Ceder Door moved. It was the perfect meeting place before going downtown. Not to mention Ceder Street under the old ownership where they had those Bloody Mary's with okra, olives, cocktail onion, and a pickle.
But I'd really miss Chez Nou, Mushachino, Jeffery's (don't hold your breath on that one), Vespio, and Ranch 616.. Funny, there is no 'bar' that I'd really miss.

The Draught Horse

I thought it sucked when the Texadelphia in the Union Underground closed, now I have to walk all the way across the street.

The Draught Horse (now called The Draught House for some reason)
Crown and Anchor
Waterloo (I like all the locations but the one on 38th is my favorite on a warm day)
Trudy's
Shakespeare's on 6th (not a fan of most 6th street bars but Shake's is the only real "bar" on 6th or used to be, anyway.
$2 anything on Thursday nights. Haven't been there in a long time so don't know if it has become cheesified like most everything else on 6th).
Joe's Generic Bar (total hole in the wall but cheap beer and free live blues on the weekends)

I was pissed when they closed down Waterloo Brewing Company on 4th. That was a great place.

I heard Liberty Lunch has reopened in a new location. Anybody know where? That was a great place. Loud as **** with an uneven floor.

Wolf, we must have been at UT at the same time. GM got my nod for this. Really sad that you can't get a burger or CFS of that quality and price. Also, don't you miss the b fast tacos from GM? The were great. Anybody remember the really big fish that was in the aquarium in GM? Did they fry it when GM closed...... Nobody mentioned Armadillo World HQs. It closed my first year at UT. I missed out on all that history. All the haunts of the early 80s are gone now except Hole in the Wall. Will be a sad day when/if it closes. Also, the Drag is dead as we knew it... Way to commercial. There's no character left. Used to be able to watch classic movies at the theater they turned in to Tower records, not to mention the Texas theater for a good fix of porn.
