August 12th - Mexico vs USA

I guess he burns easily...

The throwing of urine and vomit at US players as well as the torrents of abuse in Azteca once again proved that when they play the US they are truly a scum bag fan base. I have several good friends who live and die with the Tri Colores and even they admit that as a rule Mexican fans when it comes to games against the US cant help but act out their worst instincts. Play that game at a neutral site or in the US and the Americans win but there is one place in the world where Mexico is a top 3 team and that is Azteca.

Seeing this picture reminded of a comment I made during the game when the assistant coach kept talking to their manager.....Why do Mexican soccer teams ***** themselves out so much to advertisers? The club teams there put advertising all over the uniform. Does it not seem excessive to put three large logos on the assistant coach and warm up jerseys?

What is telling about it too is their country is by and large a gynormous piece of **** when it comes to opportunity. Riddled with corruption over time, poor as dirt and the lame men with their machismo. The Latin world laughs at them as a country. Why would many of their fans be any different?

MexicOU?

I didn't get to watch the game live, but I followed via the cell phone while I was on the Cowboys charter to Oakland. Believe me, no one was more surprised than I was that Mexico pulled the game out. Once I got home and did watch, though, I was surprised Mexico didn't win by more. They had the ball for what seemed like 90% of the time after a goal. They should have iced the game right after they got the equalizer.

I just don't understand the US tactics when they play in games like this. It seems that the tables have turned somewhat as far as strategy. Howard can't turn away every shot. The US admittedly was going to play Mexico "the same way we always do." Mexico, on the other hand, did not let that bother them. Of course, it helps when you have players who have individual technical skills. But Mexico showed so much more patience than they ever have. Ultimately, they were rewarded.

I also am not going to defend or condone what the idiots in the stands did either. That kind of behavior was the sole reason why my parents refused to take us to the Azteca (or any stadium in the DF for that matter) when we were kids. It is deplorable and embarrassing to me.

But I am also not going to pretend that kind of behavior only happens at the Azteca when the US plays. It happens all over the world. Heck, I have even seen more than a few orangebloods hoist their plastic beer bottles at their own team when a certain player threw his 3rd (or was it fourth) INT in Texas Stadium.

In all fairness and all joking aside, what he just said is true. It does happen all over and this rivalry is huge so sometimes the worst comes out of people. Mexican fans as a whole are way more passionate and for a longer period of time than our country. Maybe not our fans like us who this means a lot to but in general.

They live it, breathe it and have their entire lives. It does not make it any more acceptable but it maybe helps understand it a little bit.

I know of a few Mexican friends (and relatives) that are torn. They look to the U.S. as a place that helped them become more than what they were. Whether their parents came here, risking everything to give them that chance or they did it themselves, they love the U.S. and consider themselves "Americans".

They are torn watching the Tri play us but often side with us.

I want both teams to prepare one another for what they will face in S.A. and to both kick ***. I am tired of CONCACAF being a little joke.
