Astros

As a fantasy owner, I'd prefer Pence had more RBI opportunities, which he will at the 6 vs. 2 spot.

My expectation is that Tejada will be solid, but Pence will be better, and pretty soon it'll be Hunter 5th and Tejada 6th.

I'm loving Michael Bourn. You rarely see an almost effortless stand-up triple. And he's perfect for the vast expanses of the Juice Box's CF, especially with Lee's limited range in left.

Roy's pitched pretty poorly so far this season...

I hope this isn't the season where we start to see him decline in his effectiveness.

I really don't see much reason for panic right now. It's early and this team is still "new."

Also a Bourn fan over here so far.

It is early, the most important thing being that the biggest concerns for the season, Backe, Sampson, and Chacon, have all pitched well. Wandy is consistent and will be fine, and Roy will come around. We just need the bats to come around.

I'd love for Backe through Chacone to put up the averages they've put up through two weeks for an entire season. They do that and the bats (especially the top of the lineup) get going, this can be a successful season.

Of course, we're also assuming the pen won't be a problem either.

I'm sorry, but I just have this sinking feeling it's going to be a long year at MMP. I hope I'm wrong....

Expect 70 wins, and be thrilled for each one over that number.

I have a feeling things will reverse - the pitching will go south and the hitting will pick up.

Selfishly, I just hope the games I attend are competitive and that they win. We haven't seen it in Houston in awhile...but the rebuilding mode time may have finally come.

Anybody think Drayton will sell the team soon? I don't know if he has the patience to wait for the team to rebuild.

It looks like about a two year rebuild. The problem with that is what kind of players will Berkman, Lee and Tejada be (assuming that they're all still on the team) by then? All will be in their early to mid 30s.

Backe going after Poohole pregame is the No. 2 highlight of the season so far.

#1 is the comeback win vs. Cards in 1st game of series.

A 9 ERA. He's throwing like crap this year. I haven't got to see a game. Does it look like mechanics or confidence or what?

I know its early, but I think the Stros are done already.

isn't he still throwing 95? that's what I heard, so how much zip did he lose? he never really threw harder than 95 in the past..hopefully he figures out b/c he's the stros best pitcher.

Dead arm is not uncommon after spring training. I wouldn't worry about that too much for now. If he gets to May and he's still not pitching well, then it'll be a concern.

And yes, this team has a lot of very-long-year potential, Roy's arm notwithstanding.
