Artists who were great when young.. suck when old

I agree with the thoughts on Elton John. His latest album (The Captain & the Kid) was brilliant. I have seen Elton multiple times in concert and he puts the younger folks to shame!

Paul McCartney should NOT be on that list.

he is still bad *** and sings his and the beatles old stuff like nobody's business.

regarding Aerosmith...

I knew they were on the decline for many years now, but when I saw Joe Perry onstage with that Sanjaya kid from American Idol.... well....

very very very few musicians over the age of 40 that do not suck.

Singing the hell out of your old songs does not qualify as not sucking.

Ahhhhh I was one late for Eric Clapton. Nothing good since "Unplugged," and a drought before that as well.

Elvis
Michael Jackson
Boston
Phil Collins
Metallica (though I hear their new album is good)

I could think of more if I took some time to do it. Don't feel like it.

Its hard to believe the're the same band as the one I listened to in the 80's. The fist five albums(including the EP) are more folksy and alt country. Lifes rich pageant was released in 86 and though, more uptempo, was less commercial and still had an edge. The albums after that seemed to be mostly campy pop surrounded by filler.

What a waste.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

For me, post Freaky Styley begins the suck. Uplift MoFo was okay and Mother's Milk had some moments. But this, this today version, pure D suck Boy were they ever the ****.

Michelangelo. He really slowed down after 1504. 11 years on two separate Sistine Chapel projects? He obviously lost that imaginative spark of his younger years and suffered from over thinking.
