This game is a great example of how it's tough to rely on your inside game in college basketball. You really need the 3 pointer to pull away from teams. College refs allow tons of contact in the paint and are almost never consistent with their calls. Arky is playing hack-a-shaq on dexter and it is called maybe one third of the time. At least in the NBA, they let Shaq go to the line and miss free throws when he gets hacked by overmatched, out of position defenders. Dexter is not even extended this courtesy. In the college game, it is virtually impossible to beat a good team shooting as atrociously from the outside as we have tonight, even when you are as dominant down low as we have been.
disgusting finish. abrams with 3 attempts from 3pt land and missed all 3. that's what happens when you have only 1 credible shooter on the entire roster and you need a 3...you force it even when it's not there. although i don't think we needed a 3 at that point. his first look was fine, but we would have been better off with a quick 2 at that point.
As pedestrian and underwhelming as Connor has been this year, we need him in there for his shot blocking (which leads to fast break points) and for his stretching of the court when we're on offense. Having two three-point threats is crucial.
this game was like a rugby scrum. just totally physical play inside and neither team could shoot worth a ****.
why Barnes had Abrams continually gunning 3's when we're behind 4 I"ll never know - we have couple of opportunities down low for 2's and who know's? might have even got a foul called.
Arky coach is total gay looking. Just don't like to see the feminine coach continuously smiling. Barf.
No big deal. It's early January, and take this loss vs the Fiesta Bowl win.
We had this game under control with 9 minutes left and then pissed it away with a series of absolutely miserable possessions. We went 5 minutes without scoring.
A key play late in the game was Varez going up for a fast break layup and getting body-slammed. I thought they were going to call a flagrant, but instead they called a held ball and Arky had the arrow. The replay confirmed Varez was hacked badly.
I think this Arkansas team will be lucky to win 8 conference games and stay in the running for bubble consideration. They did not impress me at all.
Missed the game, but the result doesn't surprise me. I knew from the start that this team is going to be quite painful to watch at times. I just don't believe they are a legitimate top ten team at the moment, but they can be by season's end. Too many question marks right now.
