And Lafayette and Virginia, with ZERO SEC teams in the field of eight.
I have a young friend who got his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt, his masters at Lafayette, and he will begin his PhD program at UT this coming fall.
So, if the Ragin' Cajuns can beat Ole Miss, all three of his schools will be playing in Omaha.
I hate to break it to you my friend, but Vanderbilt (SEC) has already punched their ticket on our side of the bracket and will be playing Louisville.
Virginia is playing Maryland in an ACC battle for Omaha.
And personally, I'd rather see Pepperdine. Some of what Schlossnagle does is pure bush league (though not technically against the rules) and I would not be happy to see him take over for Augie.
I don't necessarily care about pulling for conference teams or state of Texas. I just care about Texas having the best shot to win & advance. That being said, I'm rooting for Pepperdine & ULaLa today.
Yes. Hope to have TCU @ the CWS. I'm pulling for them, VA & ULaLa today. That'll make for high quality competition to beat each other up in the other pool.
I'm with BB above. Typically pull for conference and Texas schools (minus Ags), but the road of least resistance for the Horns should always take precedence. After what TCU's #1 ranked pitching staff did to our bats in April (1 run in 27 innings), no thanks...Go Waves.
Will pull for the Cajuns to reject Ole Miss and the SEC. Aside from being SEC, the Ole Miss team ERA is 2.67, while LA-La is 3.38. For this Texas team, their biggest advantage comes when facing the least effective pitching staff. Works out both ways pulling for the Cajuns.
Virginia ERA is 2.29 and Maryland is 3.36. Go Terps!
I'm siding with higher ERA teams as our staff can typically hold down any offense out there. We get into trouble when our bats go ice cold. Naturally the higher team ERA, less chance they will freeze us.
Given that Vandy is a fine academic institution, I often forget that they could POSSIBLY be affiliated with the gomers in the SEC.
If any SEC team would make it, I would root for Vanderbilt.
We need to recruit them to the Big XII where they belong.
Ok, so it's ONE sec team out of the bazillions that baseball committee let in.
Now, we just need to get three Big XII teams in -- no matter how they got there. If they win their bracket, then they deserve to be in the Championship Series. No fear.
BTW, I used to live six miles north of Pepperdine at Paradise Cove. Great campus locale. But not nearly as nice, though, as from where I'm doing this post.
Ok nevermind the rules...had to flip flop teams. Soon as I saw LaLa wearing those ******* camo red and blue jerseys...screw 'em they deserve to lose. Nice hospital scrubs. You're playing a winner-take-all for a spot in the prestigious CWS, act the part Asshats. Go Rebs!
The state of Florida just has to be reeling. Usually this type of event has more of a Florida ring to it, as in Florida, Florida St and Miami of Florida. Now repeat after me Florida..,TEXAS, TEXAS TECH AND TEXAS CHRISTIAN all CWS bound!!!
