Arch

I'm wary of upping Arch's statistical output. The OL and run game will be the big determining factors on whether we would "need" Arch to throw for 400. If we can get a couple of games where Baxter and other backs combine for 200 yards, there wouldn't be a need for Arch to even throw for 300.

We'll need a TE to step up and our WR room might be kind of "sloppy" at the beginning of the year without knowing who next year's Adonai Mitchell or Matthew Golden will be.

Moore
Wingo - probably preseason all conference for sure if not higher
Livingstone (if stays)
Butler (if stays)
Dubose (if stays)
Niblett (if stays)
Ffrench
Lockett
McCutcheon
Terry
Probably 1-2 from the portal

From your lips to Sark's play scripts. Let this be true.
Sark will call plays that his QB likes to run, is comfortable with, and has more or less mastered. He has said as much in interviews. So, given Arch's skill set vis a vis QE's, we should see more deep shots, more designed runs and the like: things which take advantage of Arch's strengths.

Those zone misdirection plays with the quick hitters to the screens and flats will have an added dimension for sure. Manning could make the turn, fake it to the screen, then run right up the abandoned gut with blockers already downfield.

Salivating over those long passes.

I think / hope Lifetime Longhorn Quinn Ewers made the best decision for him
“Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers turned down an $8 million NIL offer to transfer to another school for his final year of eligibility because he was ready to move on and enter the 2025 NFL and also to preserve his college football experience as a Longhorn, sources close to Ewers told Horns247,” Brown wrote for 247Sports.

Maybe I missed it. Was the $8M school ever named in this article?

That report on the 8 mil NIL offer was reported in many sites but not one site named names.
Are you thinking it didn't happen? Quinn never mentioned it

All I know, if it was half of $8m and he chose NOT to go to another college, it only proves he's as burnt orange as any of us.

:hookem:

I do believe an extra year would have helped his draft, but I believe he chose to do the burnt orange thing.

I don't know about 8 whoppin' million dollars, but I suspect Quinn's main college suitor has something to do with nuns and leprechauns.

I have little doubt that Arch will be great. In addition to the obvious talent and the pedigree, look at the way Sark has groomed him at Texas. In essence, two years of preparation. It doesn’t get much better than that.

It takes two to tango. Yes, Arch has gotten two important developmental years. But Arch, guided in part by the collective wisdom of the Manning clan, has accepted two years of minimal playing time.

How many other top shelf QBs do that these days?

We do bring up the family quite a bit. He's a kid, but we should give him some credit as well for his maturity and perspective. Obvs his family plays a part, but let's also give him, personally, some credit for his choices.

A thousand pardons if this has been mentioned, but a usually reliable friend of mine (who loves the Horns) said Arch might have been dinged up on that run of his and "took his helmet off" for the rest of the game. Is that true? Was he held out because of this?

I don't know, but it does raise an interesting issue. I hear a lot of excitement about Arch's ability to run and the extra dimension it will bring to the offense. That being said, it is going to raise the issue of him staying healthy. Sam Ehllinger spent a good but of his time banged up if I recall and who can forget the Colt nightmare in the championship game. Having a mobile QB who can move the pocket and avoid sacks will definitely be a plus, but I'm not sure how excited I am about his running the football being a staple of the offense.

I found a slo-mo video and Arch was definitely targeted as the Ohio State defender lowered his helmet and caught him in the back of his helmet.

Longhorn fans have been clamoring for a mobile and running qb for awhile. This aspect of the game will need to be implemented by Sark.
More than likely, Arch will accumulate most of his yardage from scrambling by making a whole lot of something out of nothing.
Nothing wrong with sliding or running out of bounds to save the wear and tear on his body. No need to take unnecessary hits.

In law, in the United States, anact or contractual commitment that is illegal may not be enforced in law. For example murder for hire is not enforceable in law. It is my understanding that any school, coach, agent, ad nauseum is prohibited from tampering with the scholarship of any player with his/her current school. Simply put some sharp penalty teeth in that simple clause ends most of this BS.

A mobile QB (like Arch) can make up for a lot of OL shortcomings...but i also have faith for next year.

Just make sure they get coached up to avoid illegal downfield calls...
A mobile quarterback for the Cowboys ran for his life but still could not overcome a bad "O" line. And by the way, Romo is ranked by some as the third best Cowboy quarterback of all time. Arch is getting set up to be the answer to the weaknesses in the line.
Expectations may be unfair.

Wow I can't even imagine the pressure that will be on Arch.
I would counter that having 2 years in the system and starting 2 games this year, he is in a great position to not be overwhelmed. Sark seems to be able to talk and prepare the players for the roles they are put in and everything we have seen from Arch to date supports that.
