AP Poll Texas #8

Ohio State was pretty resilient the year they beat Miami. Close calls all year, yet they still made it to the BCS game and beat Miami. I wouldn't move them down too much just because they had a close game

Lets not let things get out of hand here. We played a solid first two games and are working out some of the big question marks from off-season. The biggest questions comming in were secondary and running game. Secondary looks adequate but improving. As for the RBs, we now have out short yardage guy worked out (Johnson) and looks like we might have an emerging starter in Fozzy.

That being said we have just started to look pretty good, we are not all world yet. We really NEED Arky and CU to work these things out more and to get ready for our big time opponents. But OU and Mizzou have looked better against better foes. We still can beat both but we have not proved it yet.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I have to agree with OU Engineer on this one. If I were a voter, at this point in the season, I'd still have OU and Missouri ahead of us. If you don't, then you need to lay off the orange kool aid until at least the end of October.

I liked us at #10. If we win the games we're supposed to win, and split MO/OU games, that's probably about where we'll be in a month.

I'm trying to look at the bright side, which is that this thread is not about John Chiles. Oops.

It really hurts to have to agree with a Sooner, but OUE is right this time. I hope the Longhorns can continue to win and move up, but so far both Zero U and Missouri have been more impressive. A solid win against Arkansas will help, but they're not exactly world beaters.

I'm glad there is some time to gel before heading off to Boulder, then Dallas. The young defensive backs need to learn in a hurry in order to be ready to play prime opponents.

FAU could probably hang with Cincy and UTEP would beat Chattanooga so I don't know what you are talking about. Don't get all worked up about that schedule. Missouri did play a decent Illinois team and gave up a ton of points and yards.

And saying Texas is closer to #22 than #8 is a dumb post and shows how little football knowledge that poster has.

I guess we'll see. I don't yet have the confidence you appear to.

If you're really that outraged that someone could think that Texas might be more like a #16 team than a #8 team, I hope for your sake that Texas figures out an answer for Bradford/Gresham, Daniels/Maclin, and Harrell/Crabtree or you might have a stroke before the season is over. We'll see if it's as easy to keep those guys out of the end zone as it is FAU and UTEP.

Yes, a three loss Texas would struggle to be #16. And the three mentioned above have a fair shot at putting up some huge numbers on the defense, as things stand now.

But there are some weeks left to improve, so I am hopeful.

Let me clear it up for you....

Saying Texas is closer to #22 than #8 is a dumb post which was my original comment. I don't even know who posted it and it does not matter because it is ridiculous.

Also when comparing the two schedules so far OU has not played any better competition than Texas.

Pretty simple really.

I remember last year, in the weeks before the TX-OU game, when Texas and Oklahoma fans were attempting to make ridiculous comparisons between each school's non-conference opponents.

And then Texas played KSU and Oklahoma played Colorado.

You guys need to chill out until we play OU and Missouri. Then if we are rated unfairly, it will be apparent. Right now, insert Bill Bradley coin flip quote, and repeat daily.
