Just checked on the identity of that Ohio State voter. It's Kirk Herbstreit. Shocker.

And apparently some sportswriter (Columbus Dispatch?) still thinks tOSU is a #1 team.

You're right. It wasn't Herbstreit. I've honed my Google skills and learned it was John Silver of the North-Central Connecticut Journal-Inquirer. So he doesn't even have homer-ism as an excuse for that vote. Here's his genius of a ballot:

Too early for polls and too early to get ticked about somebody having us at 22. I could care less until October.

UTEP moved the ball on us. UTEP. Seriously. October will show that UTEP was either a fluke, or that our secondary gelled and became a force that can deal with our pass-happy conference. Jury is still out.

If Texas wins vs Arky and Rice. Then loses a tight game at CU. Next they get crushed by pass happy OU and finally lose to Mizzou at home will they still be 22?

directional Florida and UTEP are not tests to measure a team by but those will be coming soon. The secondary is going to need to gel quick and even if they do the experience and talent at the QB position could be too much for the rookies to deal with.

I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not sure Ohio State could beat any team in the current Top 10.

Not even East Carolina.

I'd put Ohio State as a Top 15 team. They are pitiful this year, against expectations.
