Please everyone pray for Justin Gower, son of a coworker.
Parents are on their way to see him after hearing he stepped on a landmine. He was coming home but took a turn for the worse.
God I hate this war.

Update: Justin was a swimmer at Westwood High. He was very conditioned. He is heading home now but still very critical. On a vent, in a drug induced coma due to the severity of his head injuries. He has major head and facial trauma besides fractured legs and back. Thank you all for your prayers and please continue to do so. God Bless them all.

Hello All,
This is Joel Smith. I used to swim with Justin on Texas Gold but i have moved to a different team since then. My coach told me he recieved an email from one of Justin's former coaches sayin he had been injured in Iraq. I remember Justin's name at first but I remembered his face and that he always wanted to be a Marine. After thinking for a while i remembered his name and did some research and finally found this forum. I have been praying for Justin and hope that he will recover. If you have any news please keep me updated. He was a great guy, really funny, talented, hard working guy. May God help him...

Thanks so much for your prayers. The doctors say it is nothing short of a miracle how well Justin is recovering. He still has a long way to go but is really amazing the doctors. He pulled the vent out himself, he is breathing on his own. He knows his parents are with him, but is very frustrated that he can't remember what happened to him.
It turns out the Humvee they were riding in hit a land mine and flipped over. Not sure how the others that were with him are. We pray for them all.

My daughter grew up with Justin swimming with him in his early road to "fame"! Always considered him a brother then and now still remembers how fun their relationship was. She saw Justin right before he left for his tour. Our prayers are with him and the family. We are comforted in knowing that he is in God's hands - the almighty healer! Our love is with you all -

Nobody likes war, but as we Marines have been saying for a long time, "Someone has to know how." It hurts a little everytime I hear of one of our servicemen being wounded or killed anywhere. Being a Marine it always seems to hit a little harder, but that's what we do. Unfortunately, it's to common a story in any war not just this one. My prayers and sympthies to his family. Semper Fi.

Justin has improved tremendously. He is being moved to Brooke in San Antonio sometime before Christmas. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS.

Justin will be coming home tomorrow for a short stay before heading to PT in San Antonio. His parents feel the prayers that were said for him were so powerful that his recovery is just amazing. Again, thanks so much. There will be a huge celebration for his homecoming for those of you who know the family.
