Andre Jones

So I didn't here the complete report but I heard something on the news this morning about Andre Jones being sentenced. I think they said because he was going the deferred adjudification (or something) route he was eligible to retain his scholarship and return to the team.

Is this accurate, and if so what do you all think? I dont want to pass judgment without the facts, but if this is correct at face value I am disappointed. Hopefully someone can shed more light on it.

Don't have the link in front of me, but the AA-S reported yesterday that Jones' guilty plea to a felony charge will result in his scholly being revoked, pursuant to Mack's policies regarding such criminal matters.

Personally, I don't have a problem with that. Not taking an Andre Jones simply because he's a good player at a need position is one of the principles that separate us from the OUs (Dvoracek, McGruder) and Okie States (Collins, Pettigrew) of the world.

Even if he was eligible, that doesn't mean that he would be allowed to rejoin the team. But I believe the above poster is correct in that it was a felony and his scholly was revoked.

ok, good. I was in the Dr.s office waiting room and could hear the tv, but wasn't actively watching. I knew if I came here I could get the true scoop.

Here's an update from KVUE. You might have to register to read it, however. Bugmenot returned the following:

"Jones remains on scholarship and since he wasn't convicted of the crime, Attorney Ariel Payan thinks Jones will remain that way. Payan also thinks Jones can make a return to the football team."
????

Worst incident by UT players I have seen since I have been following college sports in the mid 90's. Has there ever been worse for UT Men's football?

Wishful thinking if he really believes he can come back to the team. Whoever informed him that it was possible was shitting him.

He'll transfer and probably end up as a backup somewhere next year, like the Sun Belt conference or Division I FCS.

I agree Bob. I am sure Coach Mack will do what is best overall. Personally I hope the young man gets a second chance to make up for his bad choice and mistake. But he will have to go the extra mile the next few years and walk the straight and narrow extra careful like and be careful who he associates with.

No way should Dre (sorry man) be back on the roster. He was found guilty. His scholly is done. His ship needs to set sail to hopefully calmer waters and get his life straight, just not here.

Hey, I just got in from a morning full of getting blood drawn and having tests done. I didn't no what I hered. I werent even shure if I wus hear or thure.

Do spelling police have nothing better to do? If we would just put an automatic spell checker on this board, some of you wouldn't have anything to even post.

forget dre getting to stay on the team. punished by the state or not, he doesn't deserve to wear the Texas uniform. he's guilty. i think it is ******** he's getting deferred adjudification for the **** he pulled.

sometimes i wish our lawyers weren't so good.
